A few days ago I came across something regarding when e-cas changes to in-process vs. whether or not there will be an interview.

There is an idea that if you require an interview, your e-cas status will change to in-process after the interview. Thus, the idea is that if your status has changed to in-process without an interview request, you probably won't need one.

As I am curious regarding the truth to this, I put together a very short survey to be filled out.

It might be interesting to see the results

Cool theory. I think that info is in some of the spreadsheets, but not all of them.

I could not take the survey since I did not have an interview. But we went to IN PROCESS after we got the passport request. You should put this in the Mexico thread, someone just recently had an interview.

I'll definitely go take a look through some of the spreadsheets :)

I slightly modified the responses to accommodate for you lucky folks that had no interview :)

I took your survey.

Where are the results?

Hey, ThunderSoul! How is your application now?

Long overdue.

Should have gotten an answer by now since all that was missing was the extended medical. They should have gotten an extension by now since they started extending it Nov. 14. :\

My theory on medical extensions is that it takes an additional 3 months. I think she should get her visa by Valentine's!

what is ecas?
It's a website where you can supposedly track the status of your application.
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do
Normally it won't start to work until the visa office opens your file and they send you a client id number in their 'Acknowledgement of Receipt' letter.

How did you get to this theory? I heard some people takes 2 weeks only...

Just from watching the forum and seeing other people's timelines. It's so common to redo the medical only to have it sit in a pile somewhere in CEM before they get to it. I don't see how it could possibly take only two weeks given their track record of opening mail in a timely fashion.
