10-15 bonus points are okay. But if the minimum bonus points will be like 100-150 for bachelors in canada then all 150,000 will become PR on the cost of all of them with foreign education and work exp. Thats why I said either seperate category for intl students or limited bonus points. Like if you have bachelors as a single applicant you get 120 points. Lets add 10 bonus if its in canada making it 130. That way should be fair.

Maximum 25 bonus points an applicant can get.

10 for canadian bachelors
15 for canadian masters (if bachelors is in foreign country)
20 for canadian PHD (if bachelors and masters are in foreign country)
20 for if both bachelors and masters had been done in canada.
25 for if all 3 bachelors masters and PHD had been done in canada.

25 points if you have a canadian sibling.
All those tours, consultations... taking almost a year for giving only these bonus points!

But those points would allow a lot of people to pop over the fine line of being accepted or not.

Folks,

If every international student in canada, passed from Canadian institute/college/university starts getting extra points to become a confirmed PR...then will not this be a scam, where immigrants will take the education route to become a PR?

If only good meritorious students from good ranked university is given additional points, then what will happen to rest of the students? They will still argue, that I contributed to canadian economy by paying the tuition fees, paid the rent, phone, internet etc. I should be given the points to be a confirmed PR.

Someone with PHD or master's from a university of repute vis a vis trade/diploma qualification of 1 year from poorly rated institute, how those cases will be rated and given points?

thoughts????

I agree. They can't just give all graduates points. It would be fairer if they gave extra points for work experience obtained on a PGWP, say double, or gave them points for any work. I don't know, that's why small point increases would work better.

You are ignorant as this is the case in Québec and it is not considered as scam; After all it is not scam as Canada decides who it wants to take.

I am ready to pay to government agencies what international students paid for the university degree of two years, along with average local expenses. Please give me the PR. I will not even ask for the degree.

OMG, you seem to not know how it presently works.

More points are presently given for Canadian work experience but this is not the case for Canadian education. Based on you argument, we might also say why under the present system, Canadian and foreign work experience are not being treated equally?

points will be given based on education level instead of university levels.

okay. So they have defined the scam - if you buy the education to become a confirmed PR is not a scam, but if you buy a job to become a PR is scam.

You cannot buy a degree, may be in corrupt countries.

In Canada, you have to pay and work hard for it, if you don't know how it works.

i dont get the issue. Yest someone who has studied in canada should get more points than others. No it shouldn't be enough to cloud a very capable FSW. Do you really think that the government is calculating points randomly? Probably the points is based on some system. When they realized that 600 is too much for LMIA they decided to reduce it. I believe in the system and that it will come put fair for everyone.

Moreover it is the same case where an older person would get same points as a younger one if the older guy brings more to the table like a phd. It is a tradeoff after all.

If Quebec has that provision, then why the students didn't go there for the education?
