Hi everybody
I am in Canada like a visitor (with a visitor Visa). Being here because i am dating with a Canadian man for almost two years. I came here for three times before, always like a tourist. My boyfriend went to my conutry for two times as well. The last year we decide to try to live together so I came here the last November to see if i could live in Canada otherwise my boyfriend would have to move to my country. But... now, I am pregnant (3 weeks) and we don't know what we should do. We want to have the baby here but I am a visitor and in theory I have to leave Canada in May.
My questions are: can I apply to a Resident Visa if i have a Visitor Visa?, how long is the process?
And as logical, I don't have any medical insurance. It is possilbe to ask for one during the application time?
We have thought to get marry soon if it helps.
Thanks for any help

1. Basically no, as you haven't lived together for 1 year continuously in a C/law relationship nor are you married.
2. No, you are not eligible in all provinces for medical insurance until you are a Permanent Resident.

A few ideas:
1. If you get married, your husband can sponsor you for permanent residence - you have to decide whether to apply from 'outland' or 'inland'.

2. Try to renew your visitor visa at least 30 days before it expires - not sure what a good reason will be, but I don't think being pregnant is enough reason for them to extend your stay.

3. Find an employer willing to apply for a LMO for you. If approved, you can apply for a work permit. I know that in some provinces, if you hold a work permit valid for at least one year, you may be eligible for provincial medical coverage.

4. Does your boyfriend have medical insurance from work? Can he add you? If all else fails, you guys should get medical insurance on your own because it is expensive paying out of pocket.

Thanks for answer.
I am living in British Columbia, I don't know the rules in this province but i have read that only resident citizens can apply to healthcare. About the rules of marriage I know nothing.
About to ask for a permanent residence from inland or outland. which one would you think it is better? which one is longer? I would not like to have my baby without his/her father. He could go for some days to my country for the birth but maybe we could not come back here together.
.
On the other hand i was reading about the permanent application. At the forums says I need to present many requirements. I know we have to prove our relationship is real. We have many letters but without envelop, and a lot of emails, although many of them are in Spanish. Do we need to translate them? We have photos together as well. Are there any thing else very important to present?
And i have red people who their application were refused said one reason was for the 'travel history', what is that? I have come here three times before now in 2 years. I have a multiple Canadian visitor visa. I lived in Europe 3 years and I have traveled for some countries for my job. could these trips help?
I am really worried because I know the time is passing to fast and this kind of thing takes time
thanks a lot
:)

I'm not familiar with this side of things, better to post your questions in the "family sponsorship" section to get more information.

Any documents that are not in English or French have to be translated - the sponsorship guide would provide more information.
