That is very bad advice. It is pretty clear that you are required to notify IRCC of any changes. Why risk misrepresentation. The new policies essentially indicate that IRCC is taking switching schools or programs seriously. There is a big difference if you switch from a postgrad to a diploma for example.
hi just want to ask how about if I change programs with the same dli and level of study while im still outside canada. Would it cause problems?

I dont know how you can switch from Masters to Certificate once you arrive and close to starting your studies. Unless you had two application in progress onefor Masters and other for Certificate both approved or University/College has open enrollment anytime you can switch. I guess it was just an example not very common to happen. If its a same DLI and Same Level of studies, lets say Masters to Masters or Phd to Phd program, same DLI number, do you still have to update IRCC? What about students changing specialization 3rd semester/second year?
Hi I’m also having this problem. I haven’t arrived in canada yet and changed my program from Hospitality to Paralegal. Same dli and level of study. Do i still need to re apply for a new SP? My classes will start this September and i want to know if ever i changed my program would it cause me problems upon arrival in canada?
And if so what are the things i should do?

Have u seen anybody reapplied and got approved ??
what will happen if we simply update on GC key now ??/

for exaample

If i apply new program,do they simply cancel old port of entry and reject new one ?
or if they not satisfied new course ,do they simply reject new one or cancel old one also?

Thats a good question, i’ll put this way and see if other senior members can comment @tapperb @Naturgrl @canuck78 @scylla

1. if i have approved SP,then change program/DLI and apply for a new SPoutside of Canada… will the previous approval status cancelled?
2. If they reject second application for any reason, will you be able to resort to your old approval, use old LOA and board flight? Will CBSA admit you?
3. If they approve second application and for some reason, you decide to attend old DLI while in Canada, any guideline on this?

I have no idea. This rule is too new.

Well said. The effect on multiple applications has yielded multiple different results in the past. Add on top of that the increased complexity brought by covid as well as the new study permit rule and its anyone's guess what the final outcome will be

I'll let you know as soon as my new SP application is processed :D . It's basically still untouched since I applied on the 24th of May. My previous SP is still valid in my GCKey.
