Change of School with Conditional Acceptance Letter to CIC

Greetings,

I am going to Manitoba Canada for September 2015 and used an acceptance letter from a college because it was the first I got and time was running out to apply. Much later I received a conditional acceptance letter from a university after much difficulty and to their reluctance. They emailed me that I recently met their condition as I am a transfer student and they needed my January 2015 semester transcript grades also to evaluate for transfer credits. So I already have my visa, and letter for study and work permit. So I wanted to use the MyCIC method, CIC stated for making a change of school. So I asked the university for an unconditional letter so I can use that to send to CIC and explained the situation to some extent. They said no they wont send me a letter and that they emailed me that I met the conditions.

So I'm wondering would it be a problem or would I be negatively impacted if I tell CIC I am changing schools and give them a conditional acceptance letter, especially since I will have to apply for study permit extension after 2 years? And could I send them the university's conditional acceptance letter and also a copy of the email stating I met their conditions? Also when would be best to inform CIC about school change, before I fly to Canada or when I get there and near to school time?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
David L

Pre-Assessed..
I dont know what your situation is. I changed my college two times. One time was with conditional letter, and the second time was with acceptance letter which paid one semester in advance. There was no problem.

It does not matter an acceptance letter or conditional letter.

Hi,,
You don't have to give CIC the new offer letter, when u arrive Canada at the Port of Entry give them the old offer letter which you used in getting ur visa, you can either tell them at the port of entry that you intend changing schools(they would ask to see the new offer letter) or you just go to your MyCIC website when u are in Canada and change your school DLI number to the new DLI number....

So if you are scared of the conditional offer then go with the second option.. The only disadvantage of the second option is if the duration of the 2 programs are different you might have to apply for a study extension later..

Greetings,

I like your advice and like you guessed, I was a bit nervous about it. Will go with your second option. And yeah will have to apply for study extension, first program was diploma, the second is degree (will be getting transfer credits though). Thanks for replying.

Sincerely,
