Change of name. Do I need to update CIC?

Hi all, I'm planning to sponsor my Wife under Spousal Sponsorship in Canada Class.

- My old passport had my "first and last name" under 'given name' section (the surname section was blank) when I got my PR and the same appears on my PR Card.

- I recently renewed my Indian passport and updated my name, so now I have a Surname & Given name on the passport. But I haven't applied for any name change on my Canadian documents including the PR.

Currently I'm filling out the sponsorship application (Application to Sponsor IMM 1344) and I came across the following questions under Sponsor Personal Details,

1. Family Name: XXXX Given Name: XXXXX -> Updated like my CURRENT passport

6. (C) Full Name At The Time You Became Permanent Resident.

Same As Your current Full Name? NO YES

-> what should I choose? "No" since my name on the passport got changed (The PR card is still not updated!!) ?


Another question is, Can I apply for a name change on the PR card after submitting my spouse's Sponsorship Application?

I have the same dilemma, I received the name change certificate but the application for sponsorship was sent in June. I was approved as a sponsor but the application form was sent in my current name (the one I hade before the marriage) and I would need to change all my documents including the passport.....if I can wait until he gets here I would rather start the process at that point. I tried calling the Registrar office and the response I got was that there is no time frame when you can change your name. Maybe try calling them....

Hey... from where to get name change certificate? I need it too...

I am the principal applicant in a PR applicant. Recently I changed my passport to add spouse name. But few days ago I got biometric request and medical request. Is there any problem to attend for biometric and medical if I update my new passport details.
