Change of Marital Status

Hi,

I arrived in Canada on Study permit. At the time of filing the visa application I was not married but got married before coming to Canada. I heard from someone that I need to get my marital status changed for applying TVR for my wife. Does anyone know if its required and what is the procedure for it?
