Call IRCC and update them with your change in marital status. It wont hurt but in-fact its good to update the IRCC when there is change in personal situation. If you are applying for SOWP right away then you can skip this and apply for SOWP. Click on the below link and you will find all the information about the application.

Just make sure you emphasize more on to prove that the relationship is genuine and that the marriage is not just the means for your spouse to get SOWP.
Submitting marriage certificate with your application will prove that the marriage is genuine but not the relationship. For this you need to attach few other documents.

There is no app in process, so IRCC couldn't care less that OP's marital status has changed and there is zero point in trying to update it.
