Change of Job

I applied through the NLPNP non express entry, and my nomination was based on having a job in Newfoundland under skilled worker program.

Recently, I received a new job offer. Before accepting it, I consulted with the province to ensure the change was allowed. I was advised that I can change employers as long as the new position is within the same or higher NOC TEER level. The provincial officer requested a copy of the new job offer and a completed form from my employer in order to issue an updated nomination certificate. Once I receive that, I was instructed to submit it to IRCC via webform to notify them of the job change.

I officially started the new job on Monday, March 31, 2025, and I’m currently waiting for the required documents from my new employer.

However, on Thursday, April 3, I noticed the following updates on my application:

Gckey Account update :
Final decision
April 3, 2025 Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

IRCC Tracker :

Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR) details
When you’re approved for permanent residence in Canada, you'll get a Confirmation of Permanent Residence document. Below are details about this document.

Find out about COPR
Document number:
T*********
Expiry date:
*******, 2026
Travel document number:
Issuing country:
**********

From what I understand, this means my PR application has been approved and the COPR has been issued. Given that the decision appears to have been made 3–5 days after I started the new job, I have a few questions:

- Am I still required to notify IRCC of my job change at this stage, considering the final decision and COPR have already been issued?

- Could informing IRCC now affect my application in any way? For example, could it trigger a reassessment of eligibility based on the new job?
If I submit the updated nomination now, would that cause any delay in the PR confirmation process (e.g., receiving P1,) ?

- If I receive P1 email before getting the nomination do I submit my photo and confirm my address and submit the nomination whenever I get it ?

This is an administrative step. It means your COPR ID has been assigned. However it doesn't mean that your application has been fully approved or that your COPR has been issued.

Ok. But my other questions still stand because all background check, eligibility, and medical are completed and I heard from other applicants that I should expect P1 soon. Therefore, technically my application is not done. However, its in that last phase now:

Do you know how the job change will affect my application now ?

If I receive P1 email before getting the nomination do I submit my photo and confirm my address and submit the nomination whenever I get it ?

Hi Alrofai. I am also having a similar situation like you. I am in the process of getting a new job offer at the moment. However, I was on PGWP and received a job last year through which I applied for the NLPNP nomination. After the nomination was issued, I applied for the PNP Non express entry PR application last year in April and received AOR in August 2024. As I was on pgwp, I believe that I am able to change my job anytime. My initial job was under teer 3 in healthcare (PCA). The new job offer is under teer 2 (Mental health and addiction worker). Please let me know your updates so that I could get some guidance. Thank you.

I ended up checking my the provincial officer, and she said you can change your job as long as the new job is the same teer level or higher.
It seems like your new job is of higher teer than your previous job so I think you should be fine.
You may want to reach out to the province to confirm tho.

you will be required to submit the new job offer and the nlpnp employment form completed by your employer. Also the last 4 payslips from your previous employer and a resignation letter to prove that you were still working with the previous employer up to the point you changed jobs.
Good luck.

Hi Alrofai. Did you receive a new NLPNP nomination? I received the nomination last year with the employment offer of my current job which was expired in October 2024. I applied for the federal PR in April 2024 and received AOR in August 2024. The PR application is still in process. My pnp nomination had no job restrictions as I applied through international graduate stream. Initially, I received a job offer (teer 3) that directly aligned to my diploma in healthcare. The recent job offer has a higher teer (Teer 2) but it aligns to my previous educational background back home which I included in the PR application. I have doubts in this regards whether I'll be able to switch job. I emailed the PNP office yesterday and yet to get a reply from them. Were you able to receive a new nomination letter based on your new job offer? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
