Hoping someone can help.
I am canadian citizen by decent living in UK. I've sponsored my husband and child (who is 2nd Gen so needs PR). Anyway permanent residency for husband and daughter was granted on 24th Dec 2016. However I have just given birth to our 2nd child. It says on the paperwork that need to inform them of a change like this before we land but it has no details on how to do this or what affect this change has on the PR/sponsorship. Anyone been in this position or know how to update CIC?

When you say your husband and daughter was granted PR on 24th dec, you mean he and daughter have landed on Dec 24 and became PR. Is this correct? If so, you do not need to inform CIC, however you would have to sponsor your newborn.

If your husband and daughter have not "landed" as PR yet and only gotten COPR papers and awaiting to land in Canada, you must inform CIC and return COPR to add your newborn to your husband's PR application. Your husband and daughter cannot land until newborn is added. Otherwise, your newborn may not be allowed to be sponsored by you or husband for PR for life.

Thank you. Sorry meant the paperwork arrived not yet landed.
Any idea how we return the paperwork to get baby added can't find details or who/where to contact any where.

Email the VO and let them know that you need to add your new child. They will tell you what forms and documents to submit and to return the COPRs already issued.

Be prepared by taking the child for the medical and getting the passport and other documents ready now.

Obviously there will be a delay. So the question is how long will it take to get medical done and add child to COPR.

I think in this case if baby was not declared and father and other child landed on their current COPRs, only the father would be barred from sponsoring new baby in the future. The mother (sponsor) could still be the primary sponsor for her in the future if needed. At least this is my interpretation of the rules.

However there is no point to wait. Much easier to just add her to the existing application, and the whole family can get PR together.

Once PRs are granted, the 2 children can then apply immediately for their Canadian citizenship as minors of a citizen parent. Of course the father will need to go through the usual citizenship qualifying process by spending 4 years living in Canada.

Hi KJCPP01,

Can you let me know to which email ID you have sent the details?
I have received CoPR from primary office CPC-Ottawa.
