Hi everyone,

I applied for Canadian PR in November 2007 and got my file no in January 2008 through CIC visa office in Islamabad, Pakistan. Now that I just recently got job in Dubai and moved here, I want to change my address in my application for Canadian PR, how can I do that? Pls guide.

Another thing I heard is that applications for Canadian PR send from Dubai are processed much faster than those send from South Asia (Pakistan, India) as they are processed by the CIC vis office in London, is it true and if I get to change my address in my PR application, will my PR application be shifted from CIC visa office in Islamabad to CIC visa office in London and will it be processed faster? I do want to shift my PR application from CIC Islamabad to CIC London office as I am in Dubai right now and PR applications from Dubai are processed by CIC visa office in London.

Pls help and guide me, thank you.

You have to let the Visa office know that you have moved but I am not sure your file will be moved just because you have moved. You have to ask them.

Ok, I will ask them. Did they reply to e-mails or just have to fax them?

Isnt there any specific or predefined method to shift my PR application to CIC London office? How about I withdraw my current PR application and re-apply after that from Dubai? PR applications through Islamabad office are processed very slow, very lengthy and painful process, can't wait.

If you are applying as a skilled worker, you might want to keep your application until the new rules come out and see if you still qualify. If you do, you can withdraw your old application and apply again. The processing time for the new system is supposed to be much faster too.

I'm sure you can update your address information with the CIC but what I'm not sure about is your presumption that London processes applications 'much faster'. London CIC, as most of us know, is responsible for processing applications from applicants throughout the United Kingdom PLUS the whole of Gulf so you can imagine how faster they can get.

I would really want to wake up to the news one day that CIC has decided to start processing immigration applications from the Middle East somewhere within the Middle East; as a measure to help shrink the backlog.

ghiaskhan,

Please could you explain how you came about this website with new time line for processing application. I was happy to see the times reduced, but when I logged on Citizenship & Immigrtion website the old time line still remained unchanged.

You can see here different timelines for different applications: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/menu-perm.asp What he linked to was the average for all applications. Some applications are very fast, some very slow. For example, if you pick dependent children or spouses, the 50% of cases are processed in 5 months on average, for skilled workers it's 36 months.
