Change my Visa Status (Student to Visitor)

Hello Everyone!

I applied for a Student Visa in March through Visa Application Center in Caracas (Venezuela) and It was approved 2 weeks after, but the real problem was that I got my passport with the Visa 6 weeks after the approved (because of Venezuelan problems) and I could not start my Post Graduate.

My wife applied for the same Visa 2 months before me and She already started her Certificate because she got her passport On Time. We are already in CANADA! so, Do I have to change my Visa Conditions from Student to Visitor before to apply for an Open Work Permit after June 1st.? or just wait for June to apply for an OWP with my Student Visa?.

are u planning to apply for spousal open work permit or offcampus work permit based on ur student visa? question is not clear. what I want to know is ru discontinuing ur education ?

if ur applying for spousal work permit then u can directly apply for it without going on a visitors visa and u dont have to wait either, u can do it right now.
to apply for offcampus work permit u have to wait for 6 months (or on june 1st u wont need a permit) to apply and u also have to continue studying.

Yes, I am planning to apply for a Spousal Work Permit since June (I am not going to take the Certificate, I should have started my Certificate 10 days ago), my status right now is STUDENT but I couldn't start my Certificate.

I have all the emails that I sent to the Visa Application Center in Venezuela asking them for my Passport and they always answer me that because of the Venezuelan problems the Passport arrived to late.

Do I have to change my Visa Conditions or just apply with my Student Visa for a Spousal Work Permit and explain to them why I couldn't started my Post Graduate Certificate with all the supports that I have?,

I hope I was clear at this time...

not clear yet....u said before u r in canada right now right? then u must have a visa and a study permit right? so now u just apply for spousal work permit.....if ur not in canada then u already applied for student visa right? then u have to wait till u get ur passport back and then apply for spousal work permit attaching ur spouses study permit and other documents.....so which country ru in and if in canada do u have a valid study permit?

The thing is that I have a Student Visa but I am not going to take my PG Certificate because I did not get my passport in time to start my PGC... Regards, Can I apply for an OPW although I am not going to Study...

since u and ur wife r in canada u can apply directly for spousal open work permit right now u dont have to wait till june as long as ur wife has a study permit right now. if ur wife does not have a study permit right now then u should convert ur study permit to visitors permit till ur wife gets her study permit.
