Hi,

I (sponsor: Canadian citizen living in Canada) submitted an outland spouse sponsorship for my wife (principal applicant: Pakistani citizen living in Pakistan) that was received at CPC-Sydney on December 31, 2020. I am both the sponsor and representative for my wife (the PA). I couriered the application package from Pakistan – where I am currently visiting my wife/family (an added bonus of that was that my wife and I were able to sign all the documents in person at once instead of having to send them back and forth to/from Canada by courier) – in December 2020.

On the Supplementary Travel Information (IMM5562) and Relationship Information & Sponsorship Evaluation forms (IMM5532) which ask for trips/travel history, my most recent trip (as sponsor) was mentioned from December 2020 to January 2021, because my original return ticket (which I attached with the application package) had a return date of January 20, 2021. However, due to a change of plans, I'll be extending my stay in Pakistan and returning on February 10, 2021.

Because I submitted the application just a few weeks back, I haven’t received an AOR/temporary file number or client ID/UCI for my wife (the principal applicant). Should I inform IRCC about this change in travel history immediately (and how do I do that?) or wait for a UCI/client ID to be assigned to the applicant and then update the information? Will I have to re-submit both forms again? Anyone has a similar experience?

Thanks!

As a Canadian citizen and sponsor you didn't need to submit a travel history at all. So they will probably ignore it. For the relationship history, doubt it will matter as longer than you'd first intended. Hence I would not resubmit either form. If you decide to, only after you actually return.

Getting an acknowledgement of the file receipt might take several months.

My wife (the PA) was required to submit the travel history form (IMM5562) and it also asked about her spouse's travel history (i.e. me, the sponsor) in the last 5 years.

The relationship information form did not specifically ask for my travel history but rather trips that I made to visit the spouse - I basically submitted the application during one of those trips - and the return date that I mentioned on the form has now been extended, so I was wondering if I should update IRCC about this development even though my travel plans changed after I submitted the application.

I really hope I get the AOR sooner than several months, the wait is nerve-wracking - apparently they were clearing the backlog from late 2019 from August 2020 onwards (when they hired new staff to speed up the process), I can only hope things are better now.

Yes, even so, you didn't need to submit your travel history in that form.

Again, I doubt you extending for a few weeks will make any difference.

Somewhat better but still not fast.
