I had 428 points with IELTS 7.5 6.5 6 6 and I retook IELTS and I scored 7.5 7.5 6.5 5.5. My writing score went down to 5.5.

I recreated my profile after my new score and I left my old score and IELTS date unchanged. I'm retaking my IELTS within a Week again now.

If I get invitation in the next draw for 428 points and If I improve score after I receive invitation, can I still proceed ? Or do I re enter pool ?

As long as your IETLS hasn't expired you can use the results for which you have 428 CRS.

Hi Sharathsonu,

Am in a similar situation...

I re took the IELTS test at the beginning of February as my previous language test results reached the two year expiry date (yes...I've been in the pool a long time!).

I was ill when taking the test and lost concentration during the listing exam leading to a score of 8.5 resulting my overall EE score dropping from 430 to 427.... (I've got the top mark in reading/writing (surprisingly) and speaking as my first language is english).

Prior to Wednesday's draw of 434 I'd rebooked to take the IELTS test this coming Saturday with the aim to boost my overall score from 427 to 430...but now am not sure what to do for similar reasons to those you outlined...

Does anyone know if CIC will take my more recent test result or any test result that is valid within the last two years? Am worried if I take the test again and get a lower mark !

If your previous IELTS test score is less than 2 years old, it is valid.

This is what I see on CIC website, which clearly says you should decline invitation, if you retook your IELTS and got a low score.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/invitations.asp

Changes to your personal situation
If your situation (or that of your spouse or partner) changes, you should re-calculate your score before applying online for permanent residence.

If your recalculated score is less than the lowest score in your round of invitations for an invitation to apply, you should decline the invitation.

Warning: In this case, if you decide to apply, we may refuse your application and will not refund your application fee.

Some examples of changes which could lower your score:

you no longer have a valid job offer
you no longer have a provincial nomination
your language test scores have expired, or you re-took them and they are lower

That applies to someone who's been invited with a certain IETLS score but has to retake such test due to being expired before submitting the eAPR.

If the applicant has a lower score which puts him/her below the cutoff score for which he/she received an invitation then the applicant must decline the ITA otherwise it will lead to rejection.

Thank you for digging that out...it does seem pretty clear that if I retake on Saturday and get a lower score I'd have to use the lower more recent score....

Now am not sure what to do...stick with 427 a or go ahead with the resit on Saturday with the aim of getting 430 (which would be the maximum I could get given my age, education, work history)..

I'm pretty confident about getting a high enough score for CLB 10 in speaking, reading and writing but there's always a risk that I screw something up on the day. Re the listening test I'm less confident.

Do you have any thoughts on whether I should resit or not? Any ideas are welcome!
