My appln. is approved by CIO on Dec 10th, 2010. I am in the process of sending documents to my visa office. While obtaining PCC from my country I noticed the exact period of stay in each addresses I have lived since 18 yrs of age.

But in the Background Decln Form sent to CIO - I see that my info on period of stay in 2 address differs and a new address which I stayed for 2 months is missed.

Now I got the proper PCC in hand from 18 yrs of age for all the addresses I have stayed for 6 months n above - I am wondering if I can make the changes in the addresses portion of the Bckgrd Decln form as per my PCC which was done after all verification?

1. Can I just mention as a typo error and send them a covering letter with the updated period of stay and addresses?

Though I feel it certainly has nothing to determine my eligibility, I am wondering if this will be viewed as a discrepancy?
Anyone has any personal exp. w.r to this?

2. Though no PCC reqd. for stay in a place less than 6 months, I need to mention those addresses right?

Kindly suggest.

thanks

My PCC from one country stated that i had no criminal conviction until Jun 26th of a year (i think) but i left that country on july 4th of that year. I didn't provide an explanation to CIC why there was a discrepancy. I think they know few date differences can happen. But if it is months and months of difference, best to provide an explanation.

If you stayed somewhere for 2month, this is probably not reflected because you applied for PCC before you moved to that place. I think that is fine. You can explain why it is not reflected on the PCC.

Remember, you need a PCC for every country (or sometimes US states) where you stayed longer than 6months but you only need one PCC if you stayed in different addresses in the same country (or US states).

Is the discrepancy between the PCC and your background declaration very different. if so you might want to address it. if it is few days, don;t worry about it.

That is only my opinion and i am no expert. Your email is full.

Hi Maaties,

My PCC has been obtained in two addresses from 1995 to 2008 (from 18 yrs till I left India).

However, in Bckgrd decln form there is one more address mentioned in between the above two addresses with 2 years period of stay by mistake. I lived there for hardly 2 weeks. This is the first change I need to make in the form.

Another being, the PCC for 2nd address is till Mar 2008 (my husband left India that time) whereas I left India in June 2008. Since we applied together, they mentioned same months. Wondering if I can add a new address (my parents house) for those two months Apr'08 & May'08. This is the second change.

However, both being less than 6 months - no PCC required for the same. But I am concerned if they would consider these changes as normal mistake or doubtful.

I am also in the process of getting the PCC from the country I am currently living in.

Yes, if you mentioned something wrong in the form and mentioned it as 2 years when it was 2 weeks, then you should change that.
I don't think Mar 2008 to Jun 2008 would matter because you have left India for a while now and if someone had committed any crime between say Mar and Jun, then it would show up. Perhaps you can give an explanation in a letter for the discrepancy because your passport stamps exiting India and entering US should show jun and not march. However, I don't think of this as a big issue.

Wait for others to reply also since I am not an expert.
