Change from work permit to study permit--urgent help

Hello,
I have been living in Canada for the last four years on study permit with my wife holding open work permit. Wife got admitted to graduate program and has applied for change of status from workpermit to study permit. the classes have already begun and the permit process is taking longer. Will she still be able to study? Will the CIC reject on the ground that she applied late for study permit?
