Hey Carol.. I moved but did not change my address just to avoid any further delays.. They wont send anything in the mail but just the COPR once its ready.

Do you have a good relationship with the landlord ? can they collect it on your behalf ? THis is what I have done.

BUT - I know someone in the forum sent a letter to CIC when they were requested for a passport copy and [hotographs for COPR explaining that they will be moving in couple of weeks so please send the COPR at the new address.

our condo has been sold so will not have access to any mail hence the reason we paid for mail to be sent to new address. And I wish the PPR would hurry up its so frustrating waiting . And I'm thinking that we will just wait for the PPR and then let them know we have moved as my understanding is the PPR comes via email right ?

That is correct.. They will send you an email asking for passport size photographs and a copy of the passport( for visa exempt) or actual pasport if you are not from a visa exempt country.

This is what u can do..

send a self addressed envelope along with everrything and put your new addresss.. Attach a cover letter explaining that you will be moving in the next couple of days as the condo has been sold and u are afraid that the COPR may not come back in time.

Hope this helps..

Hi,

I moved September 30 and changed my address with CIC.

CIC sent the COPR to my old address on October 28 and although I had forwarding mail, Canada Post also made a mistake and did not forward the mail.

Our condo was being sold so there was none accesing the mailbox for a while.

I only found out about these series of mistakes a few weeks ago and the COPR has expired.

I am from a visa exempt country and they never asked for my passport copy.

So I was very unlucky..
