chances of getting in phd after masters

hello frnds,
i am a masters student,planning phd.
as i still have a year(masters completing by june 2013)
i was gathering all possible information through this forum.
In my recent post i came across a shocking information that universities of canada do not prefer students who have completed their masters from INDIA.
does this limits my chances?
wat if my research proposal is not enough strong?
what must i do???

You must have some prior research experience in order to get into PHD directly OR Good scores in GRE along with a unique research concept and a supervisor agrees to supervise you then u can get you directly in PHD , other wise you have to go through masters again..........

May be, point it out in your research Proposal and email it to the related supervisors of different Universities........there is no harm in taking a chance.........

Not completely true IMO. I can vouch for MTech. at least. A good academic record and publications during your masters improve your chances of acceptance. Have faith and make you proposal strong.
