Hi All,
Currently, I am working as a Bioinformatics Postdoc in Canada and I am about to finish my 1-year job experience here.My LIMA exemption falls into NOC 4011 category. I have read mentioned duties under that category and realised that I am only doing research here because I am working at Research centre so there is no chance to do the teaching. Although my PI is a very well known scientist in WORLD in his field so I hope his letter can help me a little bit to push my application and recently we have published a paper in well known International journal in his field.

In short my qualification to eligible for applying PR:
1. 1-year job experience as a postdoc in Canada.
2. No teaching experience in Canada but published paper.
3.Did my PhD from Belgium.
4.4 Years job experience as a researcher in Belgium (have employment record document from previous HR director).
5. IELTS score:-Reading:8.0, Speaking:8.5, Writing: 8.0, Listening:8.0

Got score:522/600
My work contract will be renewed at last 2 more years.
Without teaching experience but with strong letter (hope PI will write a nice letter for me) and research activity, what is my chance to crack PR via EE category?

I hope someone will give nice constructive advice based on my provided information.

Thank you all for your time.

You did not mention your age, but assuming your PhD from Belgium is regarded with an equal ECA, you are practically guaranteed an ITA once you complete 12 months of Canadian work experience.

Hey,

Teaching does not necessarily mean going into the classroom to lecture students. It is common for undergrad and grad students to do part of their training at research institutes under the supervision of potdocs. If you have had contact with students in your lab even if it was only showing them how to analyse data or use a centrifuge, that could count as teaching/training. All the best.

"Strong letter" would not help you if you apply under NOC 4011 w/o demonstrating some "teaching" experience. "Teaching experience" is not necessary actual teaching. If you supervised graduate/undergraduate students, gave some lectures (group meetings?), advised students on future careers, etc. it also counts as "teaching experience". That should get outlined in the LOE. If you doesn't have such experience, you should consider applying under different NOC.

Hello ,
Thanks for your advice and feedback. Seems like I have a chance to crack PR. But I am not sure I can switch my NOC category, although I am helping other graduate students in their project. Ohh yes, I forgot to mention my age and I am 30 years old. And I hope this discussion will help other Postdoc who is thinking to apply for PR.
