hi Rocky,
Many of my friends are pursuing/ have finished CFA Level 3 studies.
If you want to know anything in specific, i may share little info i posses or i may ask to my friends!!!
I think by CFA you mean Charted Financial Analyst - that is conferred by CFA Institute in USA.
Also I am not sure what do you mean by CFA from Charlotte Uni? I don't think CFA is awarded by any university in USA!! at least I think
that is the case!
For job prospects in Canada, well i don't have any idea at the moment, let me see if i can get some info for you.
thanks,

CFA is awarded by Chartered Financial Analyst Institute from US, and it is a worldwide recognition in the investment/ financial industry. So please do not get confused by "CFA from Charlotte University", No unis can issue CFA, its unlike MBA or MS in Finance. One can only get charted CFA from CFA institute and can only use the title if one has a minimum number of required years experience in the financial sector/ industry with job scope prescribed by the CFA institute.

hi Rocky,
Since my earlier post in this thread, i couldn't dugout much. Later i learned that you already landed and may be in better position to obtain information on CFA study and job prospect. Though i recently read your post that you were planning to write CFA exams and so I though I may ask you this!

Well, I was searching for opportunities available in Finance, Accounting and related fields, i also inquired my relatives in Toronto. They said know somebody we recently came to Canada and did some course (may be Canadian Securities Course or CSC) at Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) and got decent job with a bank.
Though they were not having much idea about CGA, they gave me basic info that for accounting profession (CGA) you need to study for 3 yr or so + internship, where as in investment filed it takes less then one year of study, and financial planner profession is also equally rewarding!

I also did my search for investment profession and found that you need to earn CFP certificate which also takes 1-2 yr. But then you can also do some 8-12 months CSI course (they offer many curse in different fields) and can get financial advisory job with investment/broking firms.

Well, this is what i interpreted but not sure about it! Just wanted to know your experience/opinion in this regard!
For your quick reference here are their websites: -
CFP - http://www.fpsc.ca/
CSI - https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/home.xhtml

so what do you think, would financial advisory profession be easy to get-in compared to Accounting?

thanks!!

Hi

Thanks for the information. Well I have also got information about these courses and certification which you mentioned. Well CSI certified course help you sit for its certification and get a certificate valid for 2 years which makes to eligible for banking and financial sector jobs and yes you usually start getting interview calls once you have these in your resume.

Now CGA and CPA are professional courses with designations and they really have very high name and value. It starts the return once you complete and you have some basic knowledge about the economy and the industry. Why I said basic is because a person who has completed a CFA will have a better knowledge about it and after working 3 years will get the CFA designation. It usually starts at 80-100,000 CAD per year job (After you get CFA designation). I will be posting on the same as I progress.

Best of luck

That's kool rocky will be waiting for your reply on this.
I was searching and found that university of toronto also offers CFA preparation courses.
They charge $3150 for each level and they do give guarantee as well. Means if you fail you are eligible to take the classes again for free.
From where are you taking classes? or you are doing it by own?

CFA L1 is easy and doesn't require classes at all. Once you register they send you books from which you can study and also refer to Kalpan material and practice preps. L2 is more complex and L3 is more scenario based
