Yah I am planning to Enroll for the Dec Attempt in Toronto. Once I make up my mind, I will share the information here under this thread.
hi Rocky,
Since my earlier post in this thread, i couldn't dugout much. Later i learned that you already landed and may be in better position to obtain information on CFA study and job prospect. Though i recently read your post that you were planning to write CFA exams and so I though I may ask you this!
Well, I was searching for opportunities available in Finance, Accounting and related fields, i also inquired my relatives in Toronto. They said know somebody we recently came to Canada and did some course (may be Canadian Securities Course or CSC) at Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) and got decent job with a bank.
Though they were not having much idea about CGA, they gave me basic info that for accounting profession (CGA) you need to study for 3 yr or so + internship, where as in investment filed it takes less then one year of study, and financial planner profession is also equally rewarding!
I also did my search for investment profession and found that you need to earn CFP certificate which also takes 1-2 yr. But then you can also do some 8-12 months CSI course (they offer many curse in different fields) and can get financial advisory job with investment/broking firms.
Well, this is what i interpreted but not sure about it! Just wanted to know your experience/opinion in this regard!
For your quick reference here are their websites: -
CFP - http://www.fpsc.ca/
CSI - https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/home.xhtml
so what do you think, would financial advisory profession be easy to get-in compared to Accounting?
thanks!!
