Certified True copies

Hi.

My wife has just been to the passport office to get a photocopy of her passport certified, they told her it will take two weeks but are not able to certify the page showing the stamp she received when she came to visit me in the uk, I have no idea why they would not do that, and we need the photocopy of the stamp done too is that right?

Also from the guide it says.


“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
the name of the original document,
the date of the certification,
his or her name,
his or her official position or title, and
his or her signature.


Will the passport office certify her passport this way?

Are you in Canada? You should have a notary certify it... That is exactly what their stamps says

My wife is in Canada, she said the passport office offer this service and so has used it, I have assumed that they are a notery can you explain please i'm confused?

I was not aware passport services have this service. I am not saying they don't I just didn't know.

Most lawyers are notary's. I would have her call some law firms around town. Whenever I have needed something notarized I had it done the same day. The whole process takes like 15 minutes. Sometimes it has been free and other times I have been charged $50. I guess it just depends on the law firm. But I certainly wouldn't wait 2 weeks for the passport office

So she just wasted 45$ because the wording on the guide is specific and the stamp page as well, I also don't know why it takes two weeks, does any one else know can they shed some light on this?

Why are you getting passport copy certified? Did her country specific guide or the request you got, specifically say it needs to a certified-true copy?

In most cases it's ok to just do regular photocopy of the passport.

Is your wife the sponsor? Why does she need a cerified copy? I didn't have to send one in as a sponsor. I just photocopied it, sent it in and was approved to sponsor my hubby.

All photcopied documents have to be certified right.

Marriage certificate, birth certificate..

The document check list says she must have either birth certificate or passport as proof of her identity. and this has to be a photocopy so it needs to be certifed.

Nothing I sent in was certified BC, Passport, marriage licence, etc..were all photocopies and we have passed everything and are just waiting for PPR.

I'm so confused i have read the guide again so it only needs to be certified if it needs a translation? what about the marriage certificate?

If its being translated then yes....get it certified

If it's all in english then photocopy everything and send it in....including the marriage certificate. - this here nothing needs to be certified.
