certified translations

I have just been told by an official certified translator that after she translates my documents they dont need to be notarized. Im really confused now, so can someone who has been through this let me know what to do. Thanks.

I got the paper translated by a third person then he made an affidavit in the office of commissioner of oath ( in my place a notory public).The translated documents are also verified and singed by the notory public.

I would like to get the opinion of other members on this issue.

that's the right way to do it.

the translation should be by a qualified translator, like a language teacher.

he/she should make an affidavit that " this is a true and correct translation of the document." subscribed and sworn to a notary public or judge.

that should satisfy the IO.
