Hello,

I would appreciate of you could advise on the following:

I applied for immigration through Sydney, Canada in June 2009. In the beginning of Oct 2009 I received a notification that I did not qualify and received a cheque (as an application fee reimbursement) issued by the Government of Canada and signed by the Receiver General of Canada.
But the problem bank in my country do not encash these kind of cheques. I have a friend in Canada who could encash this cheque for me but the name on the cheque is mine. What to do to get my money back?

Have you tried depositing the check to your bank account?

That's strange one, if you have a bank account than go to your bank and deposit it in ur bank account or have a word with ur bank. This is applicable anywhere in the world i beleive as CIC won't be able to send cash to no one.

Do you think if I send it to canada to my friend - will he be able to deposit it on his own bank account, although the name on the cheque is mine?
thanks!
