CENTENNIAL COLLEGE - 2 YEARS POST GRADUATE GLOBAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Hi everyone,

On this forum, a lot has been talked about the 2 years post graduate GBM program at HUMBER COLLEGE... its popularity or not so (as described by PISSED via his post: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/those-who-r-applying-for-humber-collegeglobal-business-management-jan-2012-t78913.15.html)

And for a while, it seemed that HUMBER GBM is the only 2 years PG Business related programme in whole of Canada! But not anymore.. (at-least to me) I just came across or must say actually noticed a similar 2 years PG GBM at Centennial college.

HOW COME NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT, OR POINTING OUT IT'S PROS AND CONS, like every1 seem to do about Humber college's GBM program!???

HOW IS THIS GBM programme AT CENTENNIAL? Is it a new programme? Any insights, comments...

So no one has anything to say about it? ;) 8)

Anyway, for public information:

Well, Apart from the above mentioned 2 years Post graduate cert. courses of GBM at HUMBER COLLEGE & CENTENNIAL COLLEGE, I've also come across TWO more 2 year Post grad DIPLOMAS in the fields of--
Global Business Project Management & Global Business Management and Leadership at VANCOUVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
However, these DIPLOMAS at VCC requires 2 years work ex with a degree OR a degree with a GPA requirement of 2.33!

So, for all those of us looking for a 2 years post grad courses(in the field of Business) in any colleges (WHO ARE not interested OR qualified for Universities),for the obvious purpose of 3 years post graduate work permit (or otherwise) have 2 to 4 course study options across Canada!!! (depending upon your GPA or work ex - you may or may not be qualified for post grad diplomas at VCC).

Best of luck to all, and we have definitely more options for 2 years courses in colleges (and that 3 years PGWP), and not just Humber GBM! ;)

Tiger,

Do you have any info concerning fees for VCC's postgrad two year diploma? Can't seem to find the EXACT amount for these two years of study.

Btw, is Vancouver Community College any decent?

Been more interested in Langara - even though they don't offer 2 year postgraduate courses... I'd consider applying for a 2 year Marketing Management diploma over there.

Hi Fabio,

1. No man. Couldn't find the exact fees of the programme. They have mentioned per subject fees of few courses in progress at the bottom of the programme page and a seperate fees page stating only the geenral fees.
http://www.vcc.ca/international/fees-payments-vcc-international.cfm
I guess, one needs to contact the college about exact tuition fees.

2. Vancouver community college (VCC) has a standard reputation like most other Colleges participating in post graduate work permit approved by CIC. Besides, most colleges in my opinion are more or less same.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp
However, what matters is the course. While most 1-2 years PG courses are certificates, these 2 particular PG courses are "Diplomas" at VCC. So, definitely it holds higher standard.

3. Langra too is a standard colleges, but it's not under SPP category.
http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/visas/StudentPartnersProgram_ProgrammePartenairesEtudiants-Nov09.aspx?view=d

Don't consider applying for a lower level "DIPLOMA" courses if you are already a graduate/post-graduate form your native country. Plain diplomas/certificate courses are pursued after 12th grade. If you are already a graduate/post graduate, consider pursuing only PG /graduate level courses like PG certificates, PG Diplomas, Masters and above.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

The thing is I want to study business but my major is in Design. I've been working as a marketing designer/ marketing analyst for the past years so I feel like it is time to study something else other than design. I'm afraid I won't get accepted in case I apply for a Business Management PG because of my academic background even though I've been submerged in a marketing environment for the past 4 years...

1. Whatever you study, it has to be a PG level course, since you already hold a Univ degree in Design. Do not opt for any lower level course like diploma/ certificate. At-least opt for a PG certificate/ diploma or a Masters.
2. I personally feel, that if you can prove your valid work experience in the field of marketing, you should be able to get a visa for a marketing related PG course. Better, you try searching for some course related to both marketing+design or a marketing course with elements of design studies (if there are any). Alternatively you can also look for a specialized marketing courses such as marketing analyst/ market research, strategic marketing etc.

Best of luck

Hi Tiger,
recently i have gone through the post by PISSED..and frm my overall readings of other posts too..it shows that....
1. More or less all colleges are of same level..doesnt make much of a diff where u go..
2. University is better den colleges..
3. Job oppr.. are less in ur field of study especially in (GBM or IBM).
4. Selecting ur coll n stuffs depends on want u want...gettin PR quickly or excell in ur studies etc.
5. Concentrate n lissen to ur heart wat u really wana study ...n also look fr Co-op prgrams as they as more valued.

So. basically am ROYALLY CONFUSED wtf shud i do..its just getting complicated guyz..
i think as of nw am thinking of selecting any bussiness related course which i actually want to do ..and PLS TIGER enfield PISSED teme hw r these UNIVERSITYs..TRU // VIU/// VCC
which one of these r better..and my course will be smthing around bussiness and mayb marketing possible..(if that has a bit more value den IBM ns tuffs)

MY IELTS..L-7.5 / R-6 / S-6.5 / W -5.5..OVERALL -6.5 i knw its nt tat agr8 i can reappear if needed i knw ill surely score gud if i study :D

Hi,

Yeah.. You are right in your 5 points evaluation. I too have the same opinion. Although 4th and 5th points contradict each other, as if you really listen to your heart..some may find sacrificing genuine studies...a hard choice.. and just going for PR. Nevertheless, it's a personal choice.

Your IELTS score is low. You need not only 6.5 overall, but also 6.0 in all sections, for admission to any PG level cert./diploma courses. The more you score it is better for your overall profile. You got only 5.5 in Writing. Improve it.

VCC or Vancouver Community College is not an university, but offers 2 years PGD.

VIU/ TRU both are recognized publicly funded universities based in BC. But those universities are considered lower rung and getting admission to their MBA programmes is not that difficult.. although for TRU you must get minimum GMAT score of 550.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

If you've business background.. then go for a business related PG course. To tell you more, I need to know your COMPLETE profile degrees, percentages, year of passing, gaps if any, work ex if any.
Because, the last time we interacted, that time too.. you didn't mention your complete profile.-- http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/colleage-review-pls-t98913.0.html

Best of Luck.
