I was wondering if it is a good idea to purchase unlocked cellphones before coming to Canada. I believe that cellphones in Canada are locked to service providers and their service plans.
Does anybody know who provides the best value Blackberry service for BBM, email etc. Links to the sites would be appreciated.
What about international calls to the Middle East and India, which is the cheapest way to call? VOIP or internet calling?
Thanks

my relatives in canada use vonage for calling..its voip but quality is very good..
30 dollar /month for unlimited calling to india and many other countries

You can bring your mobile set and use it.

It should have AWS device to work in Canada.

You can buy a SIM card for your unlocked phone (I assume it's GSM) and you won't be locked to a contract.

can we bring the iphone/blackberry there? :)

That's true only for some networks like WIND.

I have Fido and my wife has Bell both with unlocked phones and NOT AWS.

Use Public mobile company . It's the best for the moment for who loves unlimited cell call.
