Hi Experts,

Need advise on the type of Work experience letter that should be submitted to CIC for foreign work experience.

My IT company provides experience letter in fixed format with basic details like current designation, worked from date, worked to date, total years experience.
I have read in many threads that many people share the Work experience breakup for all designations they have worked on in the past and tenure served under them and get that experience Letter Notarized through a colleague or Manager. For example i have worked in 4 designations since i joined the company as Software engineer (SE),in last 10 years.

So, my concern is whether it is necessary to share Experience letter as work experience in detail with all designations, time served and Notarized from Manager OR to keep it simple and upload the experience letter shared by my IT company sharing basic details of year served, designation, from-to-To dates and share more detailed experience information in Letter of explanation or even that is not needed...

Thanks in Advance!!
Rajiv

It depends if you are attaching job offer letter (appointment letter when you joined 10 years ago) along with experience letter. Say if your original job offer letter has different title than your current one then you may need to include your promotions with job duties. It is also good idea to do that because you need to enter your work history for past 10 years for PR application.

Since you have 4 designations, it is going to be a long experience letter. If your employer is OK to provide that otherwise you can get away with just mentioning promotions and your current job duties. Whatever is the case, you must mention job duties that lead you to gain skilled experience.

If your letter does not contain the job duties and responsibilities of your multiple positions, then you will not have the experience accepted and will likely be refused.

See the Proof of work experience section -

Thanks. It does provide the information of roles and responsibilities as per my NOC but it only mentions my latest designation and doesn't mention about the multiple designations i held within the organization throughout these years. However my roles and responsibilities haven't changed throughout these years. In this case, will that letter work?

Personally, I don´t find it credible that you worked for 10 years with 4 different designations, and that your job duties and responsibilities are exactly the same as 10 years ago. But it is possible that all 4 jobs fall under the same NOC.

I think you already know the answer, the letter should discuss all 4 jobs, with all titles and required details (salary, hours worked per week, etc.), but that is not the answer you want to hear. Can you get away with a letter discussing only your most recent job? That is possible (but not guaranteed), if you are qualifying under the CEC class, keep in mind that the maximum number of years of foreign work experience that will count for CRS points is 3 years, so you don´t necessarily need to prove 10 years...

Thanks a lot for your reply. If i have been working for 1 employer for 10 years, can i show 3 years under work history and remaining 7 years under personal history
