Hi friends,
I think it is kinda silly question but I want to confirm with seniors. So here is my concern regarding one year experience requirement for cec after graduation. Recently I heard from someone that it's not good to apply exactly after one year of experience , one should wait for another month before filing application just to be on safe side. So what I want say I that should I file after one year and one month of experience in skilled job( to cover stat holidays and seasonal holidays)or I can file as soon as I complete my one year with my first(current) employer.
Thanks

Hi Rick1111

As far as i am aware, stat holidays will be counted for they are paid holidays. only if you have taken a vacation longer than what you were supposed to and hence, were not paid for those number of days, then those days would not be counted.

Why dont you try doing something......prepare a spreadsheet of how many hours you have worked each week and see how much time do you have and then take the decision accordingly. I am also applying as a graduate and thats what i am doing.

you would have hours worked records for each week, add them up and see what you have. count paid vacations and stat holidays, in all probability you would have 1950 hours plus (unless you have taken more than a month's vacation in the last year. I say a month because i believe that a company would allot maximum of 3 - 4 weeks of paid vacation and not more at this stage of our career)

Then take your decision. I had taken only 5 days of vacation in the last year. i survived off stat holidays just so that i dont waste too much time to apply.

Good luck.

You can apply as soon as you qualify, but the problem is - if you miscalculate your length of employment and apply too soon, you will be refused (it's happened). If you're 100% certain you are correct, there's nothing stopping you. Only you know the specific circumstances of your situation, whether there's any particular urgency or risk to waiting (or not waiting), or whether waiting a couple of extra weeks matter or not.

The other thing is, the letter from your employer - should not be dated BEFORE you qualify, because their reference should cover the entire period of your qualifying employment.

Just keep one thing in mind and once you hit that apply right away:

For complete 1 year work you must work 37.5 pair hours per week including you holidays/vacations ( if paid by company)
OR
Complete 1950 paid hours in 1 year of period
