Hi,

I would love to know if anyone has any news about the proposal to reduce work experience requirement to one year to apply for the PR via Canadian Experience Class?

Here is an excerpt from CIC news report from earlier this year:

Currently, to be eligible to apply, applicants under the temporary foreign worker stream of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) must have acquired 24 months of full-time work experience within the last 36 months. Under the proposed regulatory changes, the requirement would be reduced to 12 months of experience.

The announcement is the latest in a series Minister Kenney has made about transforming Canada’s economic immigration program into a fast and flexible system focused on jobs, growth, and prosperity

Do you think this maybe implemented this year or anytime soon?

Thanks.

Oh yes. Even I have been waiting to hear on this.

Hi,

Would anyone be kind enough to answer to the above question or if they have any news/update on the proposed one year rule instead of two for the CEC? Will it come into effect this year?

Hi Kan2012,

One of my friend consult with the immigration lawyer who is also a member of CSIC in the first week of june and she said most probably the new rule for CEC will come in july. She also said that govt has only mention abt the new changes for CEC earlier this year but there is no official statement.

As we all desparately waiting for the official statement abt the new changes ,just fingers cross

Hi,
I talked with immigration lawyer about this announcement. But CIC will planning to add more constraint in PR process if they'll reduced 1 year eligibility, then they will get more files in CEC.

But the whole idea is to help transition the work permit holders to PRs in a faster and efficient manner.
Changes to the current processes or conditions are not expected but in turn, equipping CIC to handle more volumes (applications) in the days to come is something to be worked on.

I guess the whole idea is to get more applications so that CIC gets more processing fee... LoL 8)

I ve have been waiting for the proposal to be in EFFECT too.

IF NOC 6212 have been changed to NOC 6311, will there will be problem applying for PR under CEC.?

My friends have got promoted to Food service supervisor and she on the process of acquiring work pemrit under NOC 6212.Any advised? TO call call centre agent to change to NOC 6311 as NOC 6212 is no longer in effect?

Thanks guys,

If she was given a LMO under NOC 6212, her work permit will have the same NOC. But when she applies for permanent resident, she should use NOC 6311(from the 2011 NOC list) and confirm that her main duties and responsibilities are consistent with this NOC.

I truly hope this will come into effect soon...

01 JULY - is the day major updates to Immigration take effect every year.
But no announcement yet on CEC ... disappointing for sure.

check the foll:

Looks like this should come into effect from Jan 2013. I believe the new law is still 'proposed' and not sure if it is approved.

Agree with you. The new rules are still in the proposal stage but not yet approved.

Policy changes are expected to be announced towards the end of 2012 to be effective 01 Jan 2013.
