Hi guys

I just spoke to a friend in Toronto who did his masters there and is on an open work permit he got when he graduated and applied for CEC in November but his app was returned. What are the KEY differences between CEC and FSWP under the express entry. Will he have to show settlement funds under FSWP? He has a job already and an apartment etc. Would his employer have to get an LMIA for him to go under CEC?

Any help would be appreciated

FSWP requires Proof of fund while CEC does not (some exceptions). If he's already living in Canada, it's simple enough, just bank statements from all financial institute he has money in.

CEC requires Canadian work experiences while FSWP doesn't so that means more people are potentially eligible.

Both FSWP and CEC doesn't require LMIA to apply if an ITA is already issued.

As a matter of fact, many people who qualify in CEC, also qualify in FSWP.

I am curious about whether and how CIC will treat the fact that I have an open work permit job with a good salary in Canada. My ITA was issued under FSW, and I can show the required funds, but it seems to me they should also take into consideration that I have a regular paycheck, even though it is not LMIA-supported, and that my boss intends to keep me on indefinitely. If what they are looking for is the ability to support yourself and family on arrival in Canada, that's proven already.

Right now, it seems that a salary from a non-LMIA job will not be taken into account - but we won't know for sure until we are further along in the process. I'd love to hear from anyone who is in the same position - non-LMIA job in Canada and FSW invitation - but further along in the process, whether CIC took their job into account when assessing their economic status.

Have you submitted your documents?

I'm not sure my friend has 11824 in settlement funds so I dont know if he should do fswp until he can save that

No invitation here, but I am on the boat of having an active non-LMIA job. I have the fund to proof so I am not concerned with it.

I think what they are looking for is the fund itself. The reason they want to see 6 months statement is making sure all the money are rightfully owned, not being borrowed, by the applicant. It would be totally fine to have account credits with description "Payroll" they aren't going to reject your PoF. If there are some credits that can't be explained by the statement itself, expect some explaining to do.

Hi I also got an ITA for FSW as opposed to CEC. I also have a job with a non-lmia Open WP.

I have an ongoing job here, the funds thankfully are not an issue - but its just more time having to go and get the financial profile from TD then anything else.

What is a bigger pain is getting reference letters from previous employers in the UK!

Whats the deciding factor behind whether you get a CEC ita or FSWP ita

Hello,
Currently, i have uploaded my profile showing CEC and FSW criteria as MET.
How can I change to only CEC since I don't have LMIA, just have a one year field work exp.
What do I need to change in my profile?
could someone please guide me... thanks
