Seen another thread on it, however my question is a tad different...

I qualify under many streams, from Europe, and have been in Canada under work permits since 2002, and I have finally started gathering most of the documents for my PR.

Anyway, my future spouse was considering 'sponsoring' me, HOWEVER I make more money than her! (actually at the present time she is on EI and unable to find any jobs).

Can I still apply under that stream, or am I better off going for the CEC?

Regards

As long as your girlfriend is not on welfare and you qualify in the common law class, then take the Family class route.

If it is a straight forward case, no medical problems, no inadmissible problems etc, applying Outland in the Family class is usually the quickest route for PR.

Research the criteria for common law family class on the CIC website, if you ace it, then go for it.

When under EI she'd not be able to sponsor u, even if u meet the other criterion of FC stream.

OK, thanks.

It seems that the CEC stream, although getting longer, is actually not too bad.

Does anyone have any opinions on what reasons for a refusal might be?
I have been on work permits since 2002, and speak english like a canadian (still not getting rid of the Newf accent!), good income, paid taxes, and keep an aviation medical and is reasonably fit, with no criminal record...

I am just trying to assess wether I'd be 'good' or no...
Cheers

Wrong. At least read the instructions. EI is not considered welfare. You can't sponsor unless you are on welfare, except for disability or an undischarged bankrupt.

I am on EI and was APPROVED to sponsor.
