When they started saying its not when application is received but AOR is issued.. and everyone seeing additional line out of nowhere seeing AOR date as start of processing.. plus all the applicants crying about delay.. was not it expected?

... I just feel like the way they're doing this is not fair for anyone ... updating a number on a website and saying it's still in processing time ...

Communication is a big problem too ... if we could have at least some information about what's going on ...

i dont blame then for lack of communication.. if they start sending emails to every applicant about the status of their application, it is going to delay the overall process further.. we need their work hours utilized in processing applications not sending out status emails

Out of curiosity, is it 14 months from when you sent your application? or 14 months from when you receive your AOR?

Thanks for the reassurance and glad it finally worked out for you. But taking 19.5 months is just more evidence that CIC's timetables are highly arbitrary at best, and the reality is that they can take as long as they want. That is still cause for concern, since life tends to get in the way if you have to wait years and years, no matter how patient you are.

In the past few months, CIC confirmed numerous times that it is from AOR.

Don't be that discouraged by a few minor cases that took a lot more...
Some applications have huge mistake initially, they provided doubtful or fraudulent documents, some major inconsistency is found in application,
wife or husband are found guilty of a crime somewhere, security check fails for some lies, and so on...
These applications will be suspended for at least 6 months, until further investigations. You may read about such cases in CIC's website.

Data on actual processing times are NOT service standards, nor are they predictions for how long it will take to process current applications, or any individual application. It is based on historical data.

The time of 14 months reflects the past, not the present, based on how long it took to process 80% of the cases finalized between July 1, 2014 -June 30, 2015 (meaning, mainly those who applied in 2013-14). Of course that means 20% of cases took longer than 15 months.

Processing times (old-system - applications received before Jan 1, 2015) are calculated from the date the application is received.

Under EE, there is a service standard of a 6-month processing time (starting from the date of the AOR), but isn't any data yet on actual processing times.

Changing the definition of a measure is a time-honored bureaucratic trick to "improve" results. :)

I know this is very stressful but July applicants are getting their MR nowadays and its August. So, it means they will get PR in next some days so we can consider from date they apply, not got AOR.

That number is irrelevant. It only shows how long it took to process cases in the past.

Go sit in the park with your loved one, and accept that you cant control this, no matter how hard you type on your keyboard. Getting frustrated with them doesn't help anyone but the liquor store.

I suspect this "processing time" will increase again when cic update it in 3 months from now, to processing time being 16 months minimum. It is apparent that the current CEC applications are slowing down, as the proof of September and October applicants took 130+ days to receive their AOR as opposed to 30 to 60 days, and none of September applicants receive MR yet.
Prepare for the bad. Go ahead and file extensions to WP, etc.
