CEC under EE - work experience question

Hi everyone,

I have one year Canadian experience + LMO and job offer for my employer (600) pints.
I would like to create EE profile and be processed under CEC stream.

I have several years of foreign experience but I do not have payslips and all the reference letters from foreign experience. Now, because with only 1 year Canadian experience + LMIA I will have enough points to get ITA.

When I create the EE profile can I just put Canadian experience without foreign one as I don't need points for that one?
Now I do not want to lie and say that I was unemployed during that time.
Is there a way you can declare your foreign work experience but not ask for points for it so later when you get ITA you would not need to submit employers reference letters for those jobs.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

This has been asked a few time - any nobody seems to know the answer

I even called CIC, and the callcentre lady didnt know. She instead sent me a link to a webform where I can ask the question
I did that a couple of weeks ago, haven't heard anything back.

If you have an ITA under EE CEC, and you meet the min requirements then logically you are good to go - unfortunately logic doesn't always play a part in this process

It doesnt help that the form for filling out your webhistory after you have your ITA, just says "work history" doesnt say "qualifying" or "canadian gained" - it seems to be deliberately ambiguous

I would put my entire work history into the form if I were you. If you don't have a reference letter for a job, you always have the option to upload a letter explaining your situation instead of the actual reference letter.

but you are then risking presenting a lot of incomplete documentation to the VO

so is 'just adding everything' really a good idea?

My way of think is:

To claim points & eligibility, you need references/T4/pay slip etc from all the employers.

In work declaration, you will definitely need to put everything including your foreign work, even without proof. Then add a letter of explanation to inform CIC about your situation. If you worked in foreign countries and you didn't declare it, CIC may investigate for misrepresentation.

I think it's better to upload a letter explaining the situation than lying about your work history.

woah there. who said anything about lying?

the Minimum requirement to be eligible for CEC is 1 year's work experience in Canada. So for sure you put down every bit of Canadian experience you have.

But would chasing all around the world to get scraps of proof here and there for employment history abroad make you 'more' eligible?

In other words: what is the foreign work experience adding if you already have the points and technical requirements to meet CEC criteria?

Omitting something from your work history might be interpreted as lying. I'm not saying you are, I just mean I can see how someone might find it suspicious. I totally understand where you're coming from, I also thought about just leaving out irrelevant jobs but then I would have enter unemployment into my personal history which would have been false information.

IF you look at the pre-EE forms for Canadian Experience Class, then there are two sections where you need to fill out your work history.

1) in form IMM 5669: Background/Declaration
2) in form IMM 0008 - Canadian Experience Class - Schedule 8

form 5669 is a generic form asking all about you and your background, including your general workhistory (essentially your entire CV/resume)
form IMM0008 is specifically asking about Canadian obtained work experience

ONLY form IMM0008 asks for proof/references/T4s/Paystubs etc.

So the old application is clear - you only need to provide proof of employment for those jobs within Canada.

It's whether thats still true under EE which is the big question for this thread

I will be in your shoe soon, so what I will do is not to mention any foreign experience that I cannot provide the references as required by CIC.You can even not put any foreign experience at all.Once it's in your EE profile then points will be credited for you and once you receive the ITA then you will need the reference letters, but if it's not there than the CIC will not ask you what you were doing at that time since you already have the one year of Canadian experience

How about back home work history. Do I have to show back home payslips also or back home employer reference number is fine where it says, employer name corporation name along with how long I was working something like that.

That's what we are all arguing about :)

under the old system of CEC - no you only needed references, payslips etc from your Canadian employment.

From what I can tell. IF you equate the old system to the new one:
form IMM 5669 - Background/Declaration (where you enter ALL your work history, Canadian & foreign) = your initial EE profile submission
form IMM 0008 - CEC Schedule B (where you only put your Canadian experience & submit proof) = what you fill out after you have your ITA and is used to prove you meet the CEC criteria

that's my interpretation

As my understanding, after receive ITA everyone has to mention the foreign works experience if worked in 10 years, in order to complete background history, it will come automatically right, and it was in previous CEC system also , as I know. I am not 100% sure.

You are right, this is much clearer! The EE process suggests that you need to proof everything.

But now even more so I would argue that it's appropriate to include everything and then upload an explanation in the case you don't have a reference letter. If it's from a job in another country, they probably won't care if all they want to see is proof for the Canadian experience.
