Hi,

I currently have WP under NOC 2171. I've completed 1 year & am planning to apply for PR under CEC in next 1-2 months. I have some basic queries:

- Although I have WP, however I have not applied for Temporary Resident Visa, as I'm not planning to travel out of Canada at the moment. Is valid Temporary Resident mandatory to apply for PR?
- Can I apply for TRV after applying for PR?
- Is it fine if I apply only for my PR and not for my wife & kids at the moment? Pros & cons? Can it be assumed by CIC that I’m not too keen on permanent stay?
- Can/should I mention my parents as dependents? I'll not be applying for their PR with me; however may apply for them in future, if possible.
- Is Proof of Language Proficiency required only for Principal applicant or for all the applicants?

Thank you in advance!

You don't have to apply for a TRV in order to apply under CEC as far as I know
It's you choice if you wish to apply for TRV in future if you want to go out of canada
You can file for yourself first and you can add your wife and kids later on but my question is why would you do so- if you file all the family members together then your file stays in the normal processing que.. If you add your family members later on then this will delay the process of your application for obvious reasons since it does take atleast 2-3 weeks to update any additional information about your file and then they have to review your eligibility again
Your dependents are only your wife and your kids as far as I know. So you don't have to mention your parents for an intend to sponsor at this stage. May be someone else can give you more clarification on this
Proof of English proficiency is only required for principal applicant

Thanks Capricorn! I was planning to apply only for me because of fees involved. I may not continue here after 4-5 months & will likely return only after 1-2 years. So am planning for PR only for me at this time in order to re-enter easily. I'm planning to apply for my wife & kids later. Nothing confirmed yet, may apply for entire family if it is too much of trouble to apply separately later.

It's not too much of trouble if you apply later on
You can always apply for yourself first

- If you don't plan to go out of Canada, then TRV is not necessary. Your work permit is your main document.
- Yes you can apply for TRV after you apply for PR.
- It is not fine actually. Your wife and children are your dependents and have to be included in your application with correct fees. If they don't want to travel to Canada, still you have to fill their forms.
- Your parent's information will go in to Additional Family information. They are not your dependents. Yes you can sponsor them later.
- Only for Principal applicants.

I need help with IMM557E for TRV please.

Personal details - 7- current country of residence From - To

I came to Canada on May/02/2012 with close WP which expires on May/01/2014. I received a BOWP valide from March/26/2014 to March/06/2015

My question is should i put [ From May/02/2012 to March/26/2015 or From March/26/2014 to March/26/2015 ]

I can see that the 1st one makes sense but I need your confirmation please and thank you
