Looking at trackitt, CEC tracker just noticed that number of CEC applications has been greatly reduced in the last months. For example the tracker has 13 application submitted this March versus 34 application submitted over same period in last year. I know that the real number is much larger since not everyone is putting application on trackers. But shouldn't a proportion to stay the same? Do you think it's much harder to get Canada WP now or it's just less people are using on-line trackers?

You can't compare this years applicants in March to last years applincats in March.
I'm September applicant, as as of three weeks ago we had 67 applicants on the September 2013 tracker,
now we have more than 90. A lot of applicants join forums like this late. Do not trust the numbers of
applicants in spreadsheets and trackitt.

I would imagine that since in Jan 2013, the eligibility criteria was reduced from 2 years to 1 year of experience, a lot more people became eligible in Jan 2013 then were in 2012. So, it was expected that in 2013, the number of applications will be considerably more then 2011 or 2012. Now, in 2014, the number will go back to 2012 levels.

I would say the number of applicants is still growing really fast (1500 per month or so).
You can observe it by the number of applications counting towards 12000. CIC has a page for that.

Over 500 applications in the last 8/9 days according to the number CIC published today and on March 24th.

For your second question , its yes. Now its harder to get Canada WP due to two main reasons. 1. HRSDC stopped accelerated LMO approvals in mid of last year (ALMO is just two weeks time) 2. The IGATE scam last year, hope you came to know through newspapers.

Now WPs are mostly through ICT and few lmos(lmos mostly getting rejected nowadays)
