hi to everyone,

i need to know what's the next step... pls...

applied: jul 14, 2010
AOR: dec 7, 2010
file transfer: apr 5, 2011

i received an email from immigration when they transfered my papers to new york VO saying, "pls don't request for your status within 90 days." so from apr 5th, it means july 5th would be the 90th day. i haven't heard anything yet, do i have to email the new york VO and ask for status, or do i have to wait for their update? i need my passport to be renewed for my work permit renewal. so i'm hesitant to renew my passport that will take 2 months or just wait for the VO update. i need some advise plss...

You will eventually receive a letter from NY. They sent mine by snail mail in the middle of the postal strike. You could hear something this month.

congrats Jes_On, did not even notice the passport request in your timeline.

Question, did u do medicals in advance, and when did you do it (medicals)?

Mine was transfered to New York May 10th, i did medical in advance (may 12th), applied Oct5th, AOR march 4th 2011.

thanks

jes_0n and flag2009, you guys did your medical even without the referral from VO. do you think i can do that too?

I applied in august 2010 .... this is my timeline

You should receive something soon

I did it last October, when there was a minute hope that processing would be completed by the end of the year... Mind you, it took me 6 weeks to get an appointment, and another 3 weeks for them to send the results to Ottawa...

I am referring to the date which was on the letter. I received the letter 2 weeks after that due to the postal strike

My brother who applied on July 26th 2010 received his medical request 1 day before me but his letter dated June 2nd 2011

First of all, congratulations man. I remember when you were talking about withdrawing your FSW application and applying for the the CEC, and you are now done. Actually your doctor appointment has drawn my attention, as it took you 6 weeks ! I think I was lucky enough to get my appointment immediatly the day after I received my medical request by mail. Then it took them two weeks to send it to Ottawa.

Wish you the best of luck in your new life in Canada.

Thanks Prof1 - good memory! it's not in the hand yet... :) But it's feeling very good...

Yes, it actually was a 6-week wait for an appointment... I'm sure I could've gotten it done more quickly if I had wanted to travel to Toronto, but since I did it "in advance" I could afford to wait ...

Hey Jes

Many many congratulations..You are equivalent to Captian Qorax in CEC forum..I m so happy for u...Just a question for u..Did u withdraw your FSW application? When did u withdraw that application...I mean I applied under FSW in 2008 and my file is sitting in Seattle...Now I applied under CEC Graduate stream last month..So when do i need to withraw my FSW application...I know I have a long way to go in the process but just curious to know in advance to avoid surprises...

Thanks a lot in advance..

Thanks for the kind words, Yaju. Qorax is indeed a great role model! As for my FSW application... I applied in May 2009 (FSW3) - would have been earlier, but they changed all the rules in February 2009 just as I was putting together my application... By the time I got my AOR in July, I realized that I had missed one of the rule changes regarding proof of funds, and wouldn't be able to qualify under the new rules. So I withdrew before submitting full documents (to get the refund), knowing I would qualify soon enough under CEC.

You can withdraw your application any time, but if your file is in Seattle, have you already received your initial assessment? If so, you can no longer receive a refund of application fees (if that is a concern).

But there is no need withdraw your FSW application, you can have 2 applications processing at the same time, no problem. When one is ready for finalization, you will be asked to withdraw the other. I would suggest that you not withdraw your FSW application, you never know, some 2008's are getting approved now...

Congrats dear.
When did you have medicals ? do we need to submit with initial application or they send forms ?
I am planning to apply under CEC as my application in skilled worker class has been there for 2 years and nthng positive.
Thanks

S
