CEC Time Frame

Lately, the whole process was updated to 14 months from 11 months. Here are the things I know so far, please revise it if there is any mistakes. And who can tell me rough time frame? Thanks.

But one of my friends received his medicals in just 8 months, so what does the 14 months time frame mean exactly? Is it going to take 14 months for everyone?

14 months is the processing time for applications that were COMPLETED in the last quarter for which data is available. That means applications that were completed by June 30, 2011 - so they were submitted in 2009-2010.

It is HISTORICAL data, it is not a real-time estimate of current processing times. CIC has undergone a number of changes since then, including the recent implementation of GCMS (a new information processing system). My application took 14 months to process, but I truly expect processing times to be faster now. By how much, it is impossible to say.

Also - please understand that processing times will vary by INDIVIDUAL, there is no fixed schedule, as everyone's background is different. Some will be processed faster than average, some will take longer...
