We hadn't done a medical, before. Both of us had received our work and study permits without having to do a medical.

What do you mean by "new medical policy"? We're not aware of any changes. Since you obviously know a lot about this process: could you give a few hints, please?

If you have never done a medical before, it does not apply to you. It is only for those who have done medical in past 5 years.

Huh… So for those who have done medicals in the past five years, could you be able to explain a bit more, please? If you can’t share it for some reason, then I understand!

My assumption was that they do R10 completeness check before checking the medical exam, meaning that if you pass the medical exam, your file at least passed initial check and will not be refused due to incompleteness.

Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!

The temporary public policy is in effect until December 28, 2021, and applies to in-Canada foreign nationals who

• have submitted a new application for permanent residence or for a permanent resident visa or have a pending application for permanent residence and have not yet completed a new immigration medical exam
• have completed an immigration medical exam within the last 5 years and were found to pose no risk to public health or safety, or complied with a requirement to report to public health authorities for monitoring, and
• have not left Canada for more than 6 months in the last year to live in a country that has a higher incidence of a serious communicable disease than Canada, as outlined in the list of countries requiring an immigration medical exam

To be honest, what is processed in what order is just our speculation, mostly based on past GCMS notes. Has an application passed R10? The only surefire way is to get GCMS notes. Rest is just speculating from whatever you see on the portal. None of the events on portal are confirming the R10 check pass (besides PPR, ofcourse ).

Thank you for the link. I guess it’s just irritating that one has to wait 30 to 60 days to get a real breakdown of the progress… I hear some people still haven’t gotten their GCMS notes despite submitting request months ago.

Also, I snorted audibly while reading this part of the policy statement that you kindly linked:

“These measures will help streamline application processing for low-risk in-Canada applicants, while effectively managing public health risks. They will also help provide better client service, support faster application timelines, and ensure foreign nationals can more quickly receive permanent resident status.”

I know this policy was posted before the Afghanistan crisis, but man, it’s just plain disingenuous and deceptive at this point.

My AOR was on Sep 20. Was much worried since haven't seen any updates since 40days. Today got the UCI/Medicals/Bio updated just sometime before. Hope everyone gets it soon whomever is waiting.

BTW, sometimes you say your AoR was Sep 19 and sometimes Sep 20? Which is your real AoR?
