Yes, that's correct. I started working in Nov 2020 (in Canada), moved back home in May 2021, travelled back to Canada Jan 2022
I am in a similar situation too. Left Canada in April 21 and came back in August 21 (a little over 3 months away from Canada). I was working the whole time from my home country (except for the 2 weeks I was on vacation). I am planning on explaining that I have made every effort to return to Canada after my vacation but couldn't because of the travel restrictions.
Since it was not voluntary, I'm thinking there might be an exception. But it seems it was about 7+ months in your case. So, hard to say if you can make that case.

I am in the same boat as you. I worked from outside Canada for 6-months but i have the Canadian paystubs to prove the experience.
I was thinking of submitting the profile regardless, they might reject it but its worth taking a try instead of not applying and waiting for 6 more months. What did you do now? you already submitted the profile but if you receive an ITA, are you going to accept it?
After your PR was rejected, did you applied again for PR and did you got it? Do they take any severe action like ban the candidate ?

Work outside of Canada cannot be counted as Canadian work experience. You must count this as foreign work experience.
My employer is a Canadian company and my paystub is issued by a Canadian company while working remotely. What address should I enter when filling in the work history? My home address or the company's address?
Does one year experience count if one lived in Alberta and worked for a company remotely in Manitoba?
It does not matter where you work remotely in Canada. If your employer is in Manitoba or BC or NWT and you're working in Alberta, you are good to go and 1 year will count towards CEC. Although you would need to provide T4s, Paychecks, etc.
Just note that, if you are working remotely, your experience towards CEC counts when you're in Canada and if you work remotely from another country, that is considered as foreign work experience and not falls under CEC. And IRCC will ask you to provide travel history, so misrepresenting something will lead you to the rejection of your application.

I just came across this thread and I am shocked because I had no idea. I already accepted my invite 20 days ago and finished medicals and gathering other documents now.
Out of 12 months experience I submitted, 3 months were from a company in Canada. The other 9 months are from my current company based in Canada. In those 9 months, I worked 5 months remote from another country (India) and continuing to work from Canada since July '22. Now how do I update the profile since I already accepted the invite ? I still need 5 months work exp in Canada to get 12 month exp. Please help me out here.

Technically almost half of the Canadian work experience you've claimed doesn't actually qualify as Canadian work experience. If IRCC picks up on this, you're looking at a refusal.
Do you still hold a valid work permit? Can you get the additional 5 months of work experience physically in Canada?
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have a valid WP just enough to get the additional 5 months of work experience. I already did PCC and medicals for the current application.
@scylla Do I need to update the form and change those 5 months to foreign experience now? Will that make me ineligible and throw me back in the pool ? I am not sure how to proceed. Please help.
