Hello,
I have a question about this requirement so let me explain my situation
  • I have an IEC (International Experience Canada) since April, 18 2018
  • I’m working in a software engineer company since May, 3rd 2019
  • My IEC is ending in April 2020
  • So I have at this moment 9 months and 2 weeks of experience
So at first I wanted to apply for the FSWP because I’m not eligible for the 1 year in Canada in the last 3 years for the CEC
But the CES decline my French degree because his not recognized from the French Ministry of National Education because it’s a private engineer school (EPITECH)

So now I’m stuck because I can’t apply for one of those Canadian express entry programs
  1. CEC : Because I don’t have a full year of work in my company (I will have It on May 3rd, 2020 but my work permit will be expired for 2 weeks)
  2. FSWP: Because I can’t have the CES certification for my degree
  3. FSTP: Because my NOC is not under the group B
Now the question:

Before working in my actual company I was working for France as a Contractors with an official French company (URSSAF) for about 1 year (I have bills of my contractors for proof)

So do you think this experience can complete the 2 months~ left for the 1 year in canada experience ?

Thanks,
Best Regards

No, you cannot use foreign work experience to count for Canadian work experience.

If you want to continue working in Canada to complete the one year minimum requirement for CEC - If your employer would like to keep you, you can ask them if they would be willing to apply for an LMIA so that you can apply for a new work permit. Or find another employer with an LMIA.

You may also want to look at PNP programs for your province to see if there is anything suitable.

  1. FSWP: Because I can’t have the CES certification for my degree
CES is only one out of several authorized companies that do ECAs. I don´t know if trying WES or one of the other companies might have a different result. (I am not familiar with EPITECH).

You can try WES and also have your secondary (e.g. high school) education assessed. That way you will at least have an assessed credential, you might not get points for your degree, but at least you will have met the eligibility requirement of the ECA. May not help if you don´t have enough points, tho.

Hello jes_ON

Thanks for your fast answer !
So for the 1 year in Canada it has to be for or with a Canadian company ?

If you want to continue working in Canada to complete the one year minimum requirement for CEC - If your employer would like to keep you, you can ask them if they would be willing to apply for an LMIA so that you can apply for a new work permit. Or find another employer with an LMIA.
So if I understand it well, if my employer apply for an LMIA, I'm gonna be able to apply for a new work permit and I'm gonna be able to apply for the one year requirement for the CEC ? Even If I have already an IEC visa pending ?

You can try WES and also have your secondary (e.g. high school) education assessed. That way you will at least have an assessed credential, you might not get points for your degree, but at least you will have met the eligibility requirement of the ECA. May not help if you don´t have enough points, tho.
The problem I have with this is I have to wait at least 3 or 4 months before I will receive an answer and I have 2 months and 2 weeks left

I'm gonna look for the LMIA I think it can be a good solution
Thanks a lot !!
Best regards

Hello jes_ON

In Canada.

??? I thought your IEC permit was expiring, what do you mean "pending"?

LMIAs are not easy to get, they also take time and money, so you would have a period of unemployment as well (first, waiting for the LMIA, and then waiting for the work permit). But if it were approved, you would be able to come back to Canada to finish the one year requirement.

The problem I have with this is I have to wait at least 3 or 4 months before I will receive an answer and I have 2 months and 2 weeks left

You have to play the long game, it is not likely that you will be able to get a new work permit before your IEC permit expires, and you cannot continue working after your IEC permit expires. So you may have to accept that you have to leave Canada for a few months and return when you can.

Yes I'm sorry, when I said pending it's because I have 2 months left but yes I should use the word expiring!

LMIAs are not easy to get, they also take time and money, so you would have a period of unemployment as well (first, waiting for the LMIA, and then waiting for the work permit). But if it were approved, you would be able to come back to Canada to finish the one year requirement.
Ok I'm gonna check with my employer tomorrow

You have to play the long game, it is not likely that you will be able to get a new work permit before your IEC permit expires, and you cannot continue working after your IEC permit expires. So you may have to accept that you have to leave Canada for a few months and return when you can.
So do you think it's better to try in the same time both of those solutions ?
And I'm gonna talk to an immigrant lawyer as well in case they have other solutions

Thanks a lot for your answer !

So I have a 2 weeks gap (between my end of my IEC visa and the 1 year requirement) to be allow to apply for a CEC PR status

Do lawyer can tweak / bypass those 2 weeks or they cannot ?

Hello applicants I want your suggestion

I applied for Pr on January 18 in cec 1 year experience with 498 points . ITA JAN 22 application submitted feb 14
Feb 28 - completed Wes not submitted incomplete application . Though I have submitted both Wes course by course and immigration Wes in application.

My 1 year experience

2 months dental technician - job letter pay stub no t4( employer did not provide) oct - nov 2017

10 months -march 2019- Jan 2020 food service supervisor - job letter t4 and pay stub

1 year foreign work experience -dentist - joining letter and salary certificate

I want your opinion while applying again for profile creation I want to claim points for

1 year experience as food supervisor as I complete 1 year now in feb 28 2020 . I don’t need 2 months experience as dental technician .

My question is for new profile can I apply with one noc food supervisor instead of 2 noc which I applied in January 18 . OR I must apply with both noc I applied on last draw.

And another question is for foreign work experience detailed job duties letter is mandatory ? I have appointment letter and salary certificate .

What number did you put for Wes number ending with IMM OR REFERENCE NUMBER

Your opinion is important to me .
Please give your opinion

DO NOT SUBMIT THE COURSE BY COURSE. that could have caused the rejection.

You can, but since you already submitted it before, you should already have the required documents - just my opinion but you might as well submit it anyway.

And another question is for foreign work experience detailed job duties letter is mandatory ? I have appointment letter and salary certificate .
YES, the letter should include all the same details as the Canadian letter.

Does the letter at least say "full time"? Do you have any alternative proof about the hours worked per week?

hi guys I am looking to apply in CEC category I have 1.5 years experience in NOC 6314 got promoted as well. Is it going to be ok for me to apply? Some consultants are saying it won't work? Are they just saying this to scare me and get money? Let me know your opinions please. I have an associates degree as well graduated from BC. I only have 1 more year remaining in my PGWP

Why do they say it won´t work? There´s not enough info in your post... It may be with only 1 complete year of Canadian work experience, you might qualify but not have enough CRS points to earn an invitation...

You say you´ve been in your job for 1.5 years but you also say you got a promotion, which makes it sound like you´ve had 2 different jobs, which was the first job and which was the 2nd?

Well I first got hired in the company as a regular csr agent Which I believe is noc 6552. But then a few months later in June 2019 I got promoted to NOC 6314. But idk all these consultants are saying you need a managerial position and supervisor simply won’t work... I’m confused
