Hi Guys,

I am trying to figure out how the CEC's process works and I would like to ask to someone who has already applied for PR under it: Usually people receives the ITA on the 11 month. After receiving the ITA, how many days did you have to accept it?

Thank you.

Typically there is a draw every 2 weeks. When you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to gather all documents and submit the application. After submission, it can take up to 6 months to get a decision on your application. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by receiving ITA on 11th month? If it's related to work experience, then you need to have at least 1 year of work experience to apply under CEC.

If you are above the cut off score, then you will receive an ITA and you will have 60 days to submit including collecting all the documents. If you haven't started the process, collect the ECA (that takes the longest time), give CELPIP, IELTS, collect PCC. Do your medical when you receive your ITA.

Thank you for your explanation. I was told that CIC sends ITA one month before have completed one year of Canadian Work experience. It might be wrong though.

Thank you

You got the wrong information. If you are in the pool and your cut off is above the score, you will receive the ITA. you might not qualify for CEC but there are other categories for which you may qualify like FSW.

CIC won’t send any invite unless and until you are in the pool. So be in the pool and keep updating information when you have to update your score.

So from other threads that I’ve been reading upon, you should have reached 1 year when you get ITA. The system gives 1 year a month ahead because it does month and year and not day, month and year, so it doesn’t really know exactly when in that month you would gain 1 year work experience because it doesn’t use dates. So they were saying if you already reached the 1 year mark and you were about to hit 2 years then it’s ok to accept the ITA because you reached the minimum entry Criteria and you could wait until you pass the second year then submit application. But if you are about to hit 1 year you can’t accept ITA until you’ve satisfied meeting MEC, that is fulfilling 1 year continuous work at the time of ITA. They said some people got PR and some people were Refused. If you get a VO that looks on your job letter and see you started June 1 2018 but got ITA May 1, 2019, he or she may say well at the time this person was invited they didn’t reached one year. I don’t know, we are all humans so I guess it may be up to the VO discretions. Hope this makes sense.

Completely understandable. Thank you so much.
