CEC PR Job Offer / Boost CRS Score

Hi,

Background: Here in Canada on a IEC that will expire March 11 2021.

I am currently applying for PR through CEC and have a CRS score of 464. For the question do I have a valid job offer in Canada, I selected no as I read that you need your company to specifically give you a letter that states they will employ you for 1 year after you gain PR. If I did get this letter from my employer, I would be granted an additional 50 points which would almost certainly gain an ITA. My question is, is that all is required? I have been working for this company 1.5 years so far and I plan to stay employed with this company, no LMIA needed for this role just a valid work permit.

I am not sure specifically what my company needs to provide me to satisfy this part and gain the 50 points. They have informed me in the past they do not "sponsor" people for PR, but I think this is different?

Basically just looking at ways to boost my CRS score to get an ITA at this point. Im currently employed as IT Infrastructure Engineer in BC, I was also looking into the BC PNP draws as a way to get more points, but I think I would need the same job offer as above. CELIP Scores R 12, W 12, S 12, L 9. ECA report "Completion of two college-level certificates (one year) and diploma (two years) "

Thanks

Assuming you are on a Working Holiday Visa (v.s. Young Professional Visa), your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA in order for you to qualify for the 50 points. This is because you are on an open work permit with no employer named. Working for the employer for a year and having the job offer is not enough. You need the approved LMIA for the 50 points.

Thank you, I did go down the LMIA/LMIA exempt rabbit hole and I thought this to be the case. I don't think as this stage they would be willing to-go through the LMIA process.

Another question, I will hit 2 years working for this company on the 11th of April, 1 month after my current IEC expires (Working Holiday VIsa). I have been told by people you can apply to "extend" your WHV, and while you are waiting for a response (answer will be no) you can keep working during this time and by that point I will hit 2 years of employment and gain additional 20 points. Is this possible or not?

You can keep working until your application is refused and you fall out of status in Canada. However because you'll have applied for an extension when you don't in fact qualify for an extension, IRCC will most like tell you that you lost your status as a worker the day your IEC expires which means you won't be able to count any of the work experience after the expiry of your IEC towards PR. So you'll still be 1 month short.

Thank you for the responses. Yeah I was thinking this may be the case, as it seemed like abit of a gamble. Would you have any advice for someone in my situation? At this point I am hoping I will be selected in a draw at 464 inbetween now and March, however if there is any other pathways or things to boost my score I would like to take action on it.

Don't see much point in re-taking the language test/ I don't speak French
Wont be able to complete any further formal education to add points
No siblings/family in Canada

My thinking is to try and look for other jobs that are LMIA based or look further into the BC PNP program, but I am not sure if I qualify.

Try for PNP in the province where you are working.

If you can even get an extra few points through increasing your IELTS score, do it.

Yes, look for an employer who may support an LMIA.

You haven't said which country you are from. Assume you don't qualify for another WHV and a Young Professional visa won't work either.

Currently working in BC. I have started to read about the Tech BC Pilot program as well (I believe my NOC code qualifies for)

I could potentially gain 3 more points if I am able to get all 12's for CELPIP (RWS 12/L 9)

I am from Australia, I don't have another passport so I don't think I qualify for another WHV. I havent looked into a YP visa but I assume I don't quality.
