Hi All,

I am going to apply PR under CEC and I have few queries:

I have worked in Canada from September 10, 2011 to August 30, 2012.. My PGWP got expired, so I stopped working, since my spouse had work visa, I again applied for WP and got in May 2013.. In the meantime, I was staying on Visitor Visa.. Since May 2013, I again started working with my previous employer (on a higher pay rate)..

Now I am going to apply for PR under CEC..
My question is - On the Company Reference Letter, should I mention my current annual salary or my Previous work salary.. Because earlier I was working on $11/hr and now I am working on $15/hr..

My Lawyer said just mention current salary and current duties.. but I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

Any advise would be appreciated

You should mention how much you got paid during your CEC qualifying period. The pay listed in your reference letter should match your most recent Notice of assessment. You could also ask your employer to state the pay change for May 2013 in the letter as well and the date of the increase.

Cheers

well, since you have two different periods of employment, it would not be difficult to indicate the salary/wage for each period. That would be the safest approach.

Thank You for your Reply ..

My Salary got increased twice within that 1 Year,, Also, I went back to my country (to visit) for 7 weeks,, So Technicaly, My 1 Year (52 weeks) completes last week.. Still Should I mention all the pay changes?

Also, notice of assessment is calculated from Jan - Dec, so my recent NOA only take in to account the salary for January to August..

1. All gaps in employment, including periods of unpaid leave, should be detailed in the letter.
2. If in 2012 you only worked until August, of course your NOA will only show that amount. Not quite sure what the question is? But that is why you want to make sure the Letter of Employment indicates that you did not work the full year.
3. If you are giving the NOA for 2012, its a good idea to at least show the correct salary/wage for 2012 (and any increases thereafter). It will not hurt to be more specific (showing all raises - that's a good thing, anyway!).

well, to be fair to your lawyer, this isn't mentioned in the application instructions. And possibly you work for a very well-known company (that would logically make it easier than for someone who works for a very small company and may have to prove that it even exists :) )

The thing is, when you have gaps or changes in salary, your T4 and NOA won't match what is said in the letter (if not identified in the letter). If the VO can't reconcile the details, we have seen here that they often simply refuse the application (rather than ask questions), which is supported by program rules. Better to provide the relevant information the first time than have to appeal or re-apply...

Well, I wish I worked for a "well-known" company .. I actually work for a Small Company, less than 20 employees...

I think my NOA and T4 matches but my current salary is increased,, so NOA or T4 does not have this salary... (Probably It will show in next Year's T4 and NOA)..

My lawyer does not want to complicate things and hence, decides to not say anything about gap and salary increase... :(

I am v confused,, He is going to send my application tomorrow or day after.

Hi,
7 weeks of gap is not small gap. I think you should mention in letter. Pay raise do not need to mention if you provide all pay stubs. Pay raise make things complicate, yes in this case your lawyer is right.

If you dont mention vacation and shows current pay in letter then when VO divide your annual salary with pay rate then hours will be less and this might create problem. As well as you will mention this vacation period on personal history form. So that time vo raise question.

Btw who is your lawyer?? Anyone from G & S?

I have 6th sense. Just kidding :) i know him very well. so how much 5500?

I have been following this forum for 2 years. Now i can guess almost in 90% cases from the way people talk.
In last few days my many gusses were right.

I had very detailed job letter with all my 3 position, duties for all position, pay for all position. Everything was perfect in detail.

But all this detail visa officer confused and he assessed my off-campus work experience too. Which i really did not required. I aleady have 13 months of experience on PGWP. Long long story. I have GCMS note with detail. Still its mystery why he refused my file.
And my case was refused.
I have spend thousands of dollars. And now realise that dont make thing/letter too complicate.
Make it easy for visa officer.
Now got advices that:
dont need to mention off-campus on scedule 8 CEC form. Even if its NOC 0,A,B.
dont need to write any explanation if you do not provide letter which you really not required for CEC.
VO is only interested in just 1 year with job duties, salary and duration. Thats all. All other job they are not interested.

Anybody got rejection for not providing letter/explation for job (on-off campus /coop job)? The answer is NO.
So guys dont waste time on those job's letters.

I am sorry to hear about your rejection... So where are you right now?

And not $5500, rather $6500 for both me and my husband..

I did ever even apply for OCWP.

so I guess I will just send it without adding anything else at the last moment..
But I have heard that G&S has some internal contacts with people and most of their applications get through... I got my WP through them already... I am just hoping for good now..
BTW what do you think about RAvi?

I am on 401. ;) he he he

So who prepared you file? r j? Or his assistant?
But i think you have to do something for 7 week gap. It can create problem. So ask him what can you do for that. And one more dont believe in something like internal contacts. Its not like that ppl not getting refusal if he is lawyer. Ppl got refusal even r j is his/her lawyer. I know he is one of the best. But everything is not his hand. And how much time he spent on your file? Or his assistant did everything?
