CEC or New Stream

We need some advice. My wife will become eligible for CEC sometimes either in June or September, depending on her hours. However, her score will be around 435. She is a graduate of an Albertan university and works in Alberta.

Do you feel that this is enough to get into CEC? The issue is age and only one year of work experience, and waiting to get more is just not feasible. Would the new stream for international graduates be a better way to go? Or is the score good enough to just go with CEC? Can we expect a nomination from the province?

No one can tell you if this will be enough to get into CEC. There are too many variables. Probably the biggest one is if IRCC will continue to do CEC only draws with lower scores after the new program hits. They may or they may not. If there are no further CEC only draws or only a few CEC only draws, her score won't be good enough to be selected.

I would definitely consider the new stream. Hopefully your wife has a valid CELPIP or IELTS General test score. If not, book a test ASAP. We don't know how quickly the new stream will fill up with applicants. It may be very very fast.

You'll need to research AINP to determine her chances of getting a nomination from the province.

I'm in the same situation, 471 CEC points on May 15th (though the next draw will be on May 26th). I have my IELTS and all the other applicable documents. I don't know if I should wait and risk competing with FSW on CEC in exchange for "6 months processing time" or be a pioneer and risk longer processing times for applying on May 6th.

I hope they make an announcement soon.

They just mention that having a diploma from an Albertan university, working in Alberta or having relatives in Alberta are things that they seek.

@Frisk Did you already apply?

@scylla She doesn't have language scores. We are currently fighting to find a better date than the one she has (June 4).
The program is no open yet, I decided to go with the student pilot since nowadays not even CEC guarantees the 6-month processing time. I'll take it easy, apply and wait to see what happens.
