thanks too all for your comments. I will wait until i get my PR hoping the interest rate won't go up. Goosh this PR thing sucks!!!

Your ECAS should be updated in a few days. If it doesn't, call the agent and ask if the reports have reached them, also consider sending them an email with the scanned copy of med reports and mention UMI#s up top.

I did upfront medical exam for my CEC application. I am an Oct applicant.
The doctor give me an information sheet for e-medical information. They didn't ask me about the UCI number at that time.
How could I let CIC know my medical exam results?

Well good to know there is some movement seen in June and Jul 2014 threads with people getting PPR and Decision made in their ECAS.

Hopefully, this momentum continues into the tail end - Oct 2014 applicants a.k.a US

'Trudeau Should Welcome Canadian Experience Class Immigrants'

Two line to my Status.
1. Application received Oct-10 2014
2. Started processing Feb-12-2015

On CIC website it says the old processing time for CEC applications is 14 months. My question is? When do the time starts? Does it start when the file is received or it starts when they start processing?

My Work Permit is valid till July 2015. What should i do in case my decision is till pending and my work permit expires?

Advance Med is it a good idea?

The pressure is tremendous!! I cannot go on Vacation or Visit back home because i keep thinking that they might ask Meds and other formalities to be done soon. Its driving me nuts. When i call CIC the automated answering machine hangs up on me saying that the call volume is higher than normal.
Are you freakn kidding me? If the call volumes are high!! Hire some more agents to answer the calls. The 1800 line is just to waste time and yeah Email will take them forever to reply. 3 months at least, Piss poor system.

Any suggestions on what to do? Or just keep it calm and have a little faith?

I am October 1 applicant. Recieved my GCMS notes today. File is not even touched after Aor(feb9). Criminality in progress. Everything else is empty.

Nice! Congrats!

People at Scotia and TD recommended I wait and/or get 10%+ down payment for best rates and lower fees. Most likely it also depends on income/cost of property ratio - it could be I'm not making enough to get a mortgage on a condo in Toronto with just 5% down.

I have bought my own house 2+ years already, on PGWP with Scotiabank mortgage. I send copy of my WP to them and didn't update them with new WP thereafter. Was not questioned on my status. Good interest rate, I had 40% DP tho. My understanding is any DP less than 20% will subject to one time CMHC fee and unfavourable interest rates. It's our money Scotiabank wants, not PR status. As long as they can make interest money from lending they will do it. Just don't go for fixed term rate if rate isn't too good.

Condo in DT Toronto has very high monthly condo fees.

Thanks!! I guess because you had 40% DP

Hi Friends,

I have a quick question.
Has anyone switched jobs while having BOWP? If so, can you share your experience?
I know the whole purpose of BOWP is to enable us to continue working in Canada and be able to look for other opportunities in case your current employer is unable to keep you. But I wanted to know if there are any challenges finding a new job with BOWP because it has a validity period and not all employers are comfortable and may prefer candidates who are already having PR or longer work authorization.

Well.. I am nearing this situation as the assignment (NOC 2171 information systems analyst) that I originally came to Canada is coming to an end. I can now either go back to my home country and continue with my employer there; or start looking for new opportunities here. But the above points are what bothers me and I dont wish to take any hasty decision.
I hope I would be able to weigh in my options based on any experiences you share and make an informed decision.

Thanks!

Because of the Syrian Refugees they will start to check something only after Feb/2016.

Hi,

I was/am in the same situation like you. My employer asked me to go back to my home country, instead I decided to stay and applied for BOWP.

Got the BOWP approved just a week later than the end date with my assignment. Yes employers look for candidates with PR but you would be able to get contracting opportunities which might be for 6 - 12 months.

I got a contract for 1 year but had to move out of the province. I am currently in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Looking at your NOC code I believe you belong to the IT Services Industry and I personally feel you should give a shot at independent contracting.

If you already have the BOWP with you then you start looking right away at least you will have an idea by the time your contract actually comes to an end.

Worst case scenario would be a low rate imposed on you by the agency which will provide you with a contract, which still would be pretty good for survival and savings.

In case you need further details or any help regarding independent contracting inbox me. I will try to answer/help as much as possible.

Best Regards,

I Actually did! I quit my job as soon as I got my BOWP, and had absolutely no issues to find a job. My new employer knows that my permit expire in April 2016 and that I am waiting for my PR (and that I might not have it). But now I have a way better job with a way better salary...

Hopefully PR will come soon, I sent my last documents yesterday to CIC (my NoA).
