Hi Everyone,

Can I do the medical exam before getting an email from CIC? or Do I need to wait until they request it. please let me know. and how much do they usually cost? and do insurance companies cover the cost? I called a few clinic her in Alberta, 2 of them told me it costs 250$ for the Dr and almost 30-50$ for the lab. that's per person. so it will cost me around 600$ for me and my wife.

Hi,
yes, you can do your medicals upfront.
No, insurance companies don't cover the cost.
The price of the medicals varies from province to province and Alberta seems to have the highest cost (over 400 CAD).

Hello people, I did apply on Oct. 14 and received my AOR in late Feb. month but I have not received RCMP request yet, neither for Fingerprint nor for Police Clearance. Please suggest something.

The criminal background check is done by CIC itself. There is no need to submit a Canadian police clearance since CIC is cooperating directly with the RCMP. Fingerprints are not being requested from every applicant either.

"If your name has a 50% or more match in their data base, the RCMP may request fingerprints in order to confirm your identity."

So the more uncommon your name, the less likely will they have a 50% match in the RCMP data base. Hence, you might not receive a fingerprint request.

32 hours in enough but don't sign up for EI. Your application will be affected as far as I know. By signing up for EI, you are being a liability on the Canadian government and that might deem you not eligible for PR. I asked this question in one of SINP's sessions at my work place and I have paraphrased the answer for you. Hope it helps.

P.S. I asked this about CIC from one of SINP's representative. I am pretty sure what he told me was right. After all SINP deals with CIC all the time.

Hi all,

I was wondering if we can consider as per the current trend, MR's are coming 6 months after you have received your AOR.

Thanks in advance.
