Hello,

In noc 2253, in the employment requirements, it says " trade certification is available for draftspersons and voluntary in ontario", does this means, this noc fall under FST? Can this go under CEC if work experience from canada?

It says trade certification, so it is confusing.

Appreciate your input. Thank you.

It does not fall under FST. FST occupation are here:

Yes, you can apply under CEC.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. So does this noc regulated? It says trade certification is available, so we need to obtain trade certification in order to qualify to apply under CEC? Or any other certification need to be obtained?

Thank you again.

I'm not familiar with this NOC and do not know if it's regulated or not.

Hello, for this noc, under employment requirements it says this..

  • Employment requirements
    • Completion of secondary school is usually required.
    • Completion of a two- to three-year college program in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field is usually required for drafting and design technologists.
    • Completion of a one- to two-year college program in drafting
      or
Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program
      or
Four to five years of related experience plus completion of college or industry courses in drafting are usually required for drafting technicians.
    • Trade certification for draftspersons is available, but voluntary in Ontario.
    • Certification in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field through provincial associations of engineering/applied science technologists and technicians may be required by employers.
    • A period of supervised work experience, usually two years, is required before certification.
Like engineers, when you search if this is regulated, it says yes, but still certification for engineers is not compulsory. I am thinking same applies to this noc. Also for CEC, employment requirements are not applicable. So do you think we can apply without certification? Thank you again.
