Hi,

I am NOC code 0621 but my wage rate is also $15/hr, while I was a branch manager for a Retail store (Money Mart). I agree that you should go for 6211 as your title is also of a supervisor but wage doesn't necessarily have to be above $20 to be 0621
No it doesn't have to be above $20!, I just copy and pasted this from the job tool. This is gospel my friend (NOC 0621)

Toronto Region Low 11.75 Median 23.08 High 49.04

Going with 6211 has a lower wage rate (see below again)

Toronto Region Low 10.50 Median 15.65 High 26.66

As you can see if your wage is $15 its pretty much common sense the one to go with

Again, I repeat this to you and our fellow members - Deciding your NOC code based on your wage and not your duties is not the right move. My duties were more relevant towards 0621 than 6211 as my title was "Branch Manager" - If you go to canada job board or type on google your position in the company, you also can get lucky and see some opening and their noc code next to it.

All i am saying is. Do not base your NOC just on your wage credentials. Yes if you are earning minimum wage and your title is of a manager. Then you are in doubt. In my case, $15 and NOC 0621 duties match the most (online the job title i have had a NOC 0621) as well.

copy and pasted from the job tool (NOC 6211)

Skills Requirements

There are often specific abilities, aptitudes and knowledge that are prerequisites to obtain employment in an occupation.

Most employers who advertise are looking for workers who have the following experience and skills:

Experience:
1-2 years

Specific Skills:
Supervise and co-ordinate sales staff and cashiers. Resolve customer complaints and supply shortages. Assign sales workers to duties.

Additional Skills:
Hire and train or arrange for training of staff. Prepare work schedules.

As you can see the job description is very similar, don't let your ego get in the way friend.

$15 is quite a discrepancy from the $23 median, You total that over the year that's quite a lot of cash

$5 * 40 hr week = $200 * 52 weeks = $10,400

Be smart with this one, any who your the applicant do the hell you want

WOW...obviously, you aren't even understanding my point. I AGAIN repeat, my title was of a manager and my duties were more than a supervisor. If my title is "MANAGER" and not a "SUPERVISOR" then my wage criteria passes.

Also found out that Canadian job bank boards..Gives that position a NOC 0621. Here's is the link for you open your mind and read before you give negative or wrong advice to people.

It doesn't matter if its the same duties or if I go more towards 6211 or 0621..WHAT MATTERS IS YOUR EMPLOYMENT REFERENCE LETTER. It says manager and lists the duties under 0621..anyways please be sure what you are talking about before giving your input into someone else's career.

P.S its your'e not your*

LOL I don't really care about spellings, any who ,

I tell you an interesting point, I have seen a work permit with supervisor stated on it and the guy is working as manager, that's why friend. It DOES work.

If you wanna keep throwing your dummy out the pram (buggy) fine.

It will be down to the VO if he thinks your $15 is way off from $23 and declines it.

Toby is normally good on this topic, Toby do you wanna get involved on this one or are you sitting back and thinking screw this I aint getting involved LOL

Any way that's what I think

1) In the Store Manager's absence, sets store and sales goals for staff daily and motivates the staff to attain high goals in sales and productivity in assigned tasks.

2) Demonstrates exemplary sales skills and setting an example for all other Associates.

3) Supports the Store Manager by ensuring that communication regarding sales, promotions and daily tasks are clearly communicated and understood by the staff.

4) Support the Store Manager in the execution of administrative duties accurately and in a timely manner

5) Ensures that customer loyalty is built and maintained by providing the ultimate shopping experience and by resolving most customer issues or complaints smoothly at store level in a timely and positive manner.

6) Believe and live the Spirit of Roots with attitude and a healthy company image at all times.

7) Ensure that the store is visually appealing and achieves company standards through product presentation, managing quality and care, replenishment, store housekeeping and maintenance and visual displays.

can I use NOC 0621 to apply?
Regardless of your job title, your duties have to correspond with the NOC. Based on the job description above, you would not qualify under NOC 0621. Under management positions, CIC specifically looks for whether or not you perform the first two duties described under the NOC, and as written, it does not look like that.

"Plan, direct and evaluate the operations" you say you assist with administrative duties, can you be more specific? Do you plan budgets and authorize expenditures?

Do you manage PEOPLE - e.g. do you hire and fire, do you train,

NOC 6221 is for WHOLESALE, not RETAIL, so that won't work.

To me it sounds like you are a retail sales supervisor, that would be 6211.

And yes, it is skilled, Skill Level B. You can check the skill level of an NOC here:

It should be above $20 as the 0621 falls under NOC 0 code..and not under A or B

I really don't care who is senior or who is junior member here..

This is pulled from National Canadian Job Board Canada. I highly doubt they will reject a noc code for terming a title and job of a company on their NATIONAL JOB BOARD SYSTEM SCALE. Your wage can be as low as $15 and can go upto as high as 26 even 30/hr

A) my jobs duties required me to hire,fire, train employees

B) I was authorized to operate all branch operations and make any decisions on its revenue streamlines to increase growth,sales etc

"Job Number: 7106150Title: Branch manager - retail (NOC: 0621) Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Weekend, Day, EveningSalary: $15.00 to $23.00 Hourly for 40 hours per week, Bonus, Other Benefits, Medical Benefits, Life Insurance Benefits, Group Insurance Benefits, RRSP Benefits, Vision Care Benefits Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Location: Toronto, ON .."

Given my company screwed me with minimum wage for that category. Hint - they knew i was on a work permit and would take anything in management level given the opportunity is another story.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck but please be sure as just like these senior members, I did my research for 2 years before applying.

CORRECTION!!!!!

NOC 6211!!!!

Sorry my friend, multi tasking through 2 screens here at work.

NOC 6211 'IS' skill B (sales supervisors)

Look on the HRSDC web site, if your wage matches your good to go!
WAIT!!! I don't think all Skill B are included in this category!!! This is what IRPR says about skill B in the context of CEC applicants:
• 87.2 (1) In this section, “skilled trade occupation” means an occupation, unless the occupation has been designated a restricted occupation by the Minister, in the following categories listed in Skill Level B of the National Occupational Classification matrix:
o (a) Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades;
o (b) Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades;
o (c) Major Group 82, supervisors and technical occupations in natural resources, agriculture and related production;
o (d) Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators;
o (e) Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks; and
o (f) Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers.

So in another words, only some groups of skilled trades are included, NOT ALL. Hope Im wrong

Yes u r wrong.
R(87.2) is for Federal Skilled Trades Class

While R(87.1) is for CEC.

So dont worry. 6211 is skill B.

What matters here is really your duties.

If your duties match NOC 0000 better than they match NOC 1111 then you should select NOC 0000.

If your duties match NOC 0000 but your job title and salary match 1111 and you select this, you are going to be rejected.

Nice and simple. Good luck!
