Hello all,
I filed my papers last year and they opened my file on Feb 15, 2010. I am waiting for my medical. I have been smoking past 2-3 years on and off. Does this effect my medical results?? Will it be a problem for my residency application, I mean will my application be declined because of that....Should I quit before I recieve my medical request...

Any suggestions or past experiences most welcome.

Thank you in advance.

from the FAQ page here:

"Which medical conditions may cause me to be inadmissible to Canada?"

"Applicants intending to enter Canada as permanent residents may be denied entry to Canada if their health or any of their dependents' health (whether accompanying or not): Is a danger to public health or safety; or Would cause excessive demand on the Canadian health care system or on social services in Canada."

and if you quit now and get a request for medicals in a month would it make much difference?
