What is RCMP? Do they request it from everyone?

It’s finger prints. You go to the police office, told them you need to have criminal record check for PR. They will do your finger prints scan and it will be ready about 4 weeks.

No not for everyone.. But, in recent scenario people are uploading it upfront. So, your Visa officer wants one, you don't waste 14-15 days..

But what is the reason for it? I bet they have direct access to RCMP.

No they don't. RCMP is royal mount Canadian police. when they ask for rcmp i.e PCC for Canada. It contains your photo and finger prints record with criminal history in Canada

Actually its supposed to take about a week or less only. 3 days to be processed by the RCMP + time to be delivered by Canada Post

If you go to the nearest FIPS center. they would say 14 business days.

Exactly the same for me with the PLUS that I got a Certified RCMP check (based on fingerprints) requested.

5 months is the ETA displaying on the status bar as well. I guess this means you won't be getting this sort of request, which is good news for you.

Hey, can you please check you BG status? Does it say, will message you once we start your background check or it says we are processing your Background check?

Good luck, mate. Hopefully you get the RCMP certificate early. Was this request sent by email? Or was it under additional documents required?

I am guessing people are randomly selected for RCMP check. But out of curiosity, is your name fairly common in Canada? May be possible that someone with your name has a criminal record and they need to verify you are a different person.

My file currently says - you do not need medical exam, interview, etc. Is that a good sign? Its not even been 24 hours since submission.
